twitchy724
At least, not all of them. I haven't played this game in several months time, and so when I came back to play it, what to my surprise, none of my save files are there. A little disgruntled, I started up a new character real quick to see if those saves would appear. They do. So I went through into Documents\My Games\Skyrim\Saves, and all of my old save files are there, along with the one from the character I just made. So all of the saves are in the right place, and yet Skyrim still only detects the new save files. Anybody else run into this? Anyone have half a clue what to do? EDIT: So I deleted the new saves from the directory, however Skyrim will still detect and play them no issues. The only think that I could think of is that the saves are being detected from a different directory, however I can't fathom why or where it would be. twitchy724
Okay an update/bump because this is beginning to piss me off. I uninstalled, re-installed, started up a game. It found a single save, my last manual save before deleting the rest of the "new" saves. So I left the game, went to where the save files should be, Documents\My Games\Skyrim\Save. But Skyrim wasn't there. So I went to the game, loaded up the single save, saved another file, left the game, the directory still isn't there. And without Skyrim I can't look at the ini to see where the save path is. Where else could it be?
kevkiev
that is flippin' strange, enough so to maybe contact steam support? They might flip you over to Bethesda, but hopefully not - sounds like it might be an install and not a game problem.
Zulnar89
We offer no support for pirates here. Helping someone with a pirated game, gets you a ban just a fast as a pirate. You are warned, next time it is the door. Buddah
twitchy724
The problem is on the Steam version. Two months ago, I played the game on Steam and my level 58 character was there. Now he is not.
kevkiev
The problem is on the Steam version. Two months ago, I played the game on Steam and my level 58 character was there. Now he is not. I'm guessing Budah's comments were directed toward the previous post having offered advice in the event your game was pirated, and not directly at you. To find where your saves are, did you run windows explorer and search for "skyrim" or "saves" to find out if any folders of that name exist in some other directory? (I'm stumped why you wouldn't have 'em in the usual place. That's very strange.)
twitchy724
Well, I found them. C:\Windows\SysWOW64\config\systemprofile\Documents\My Games\Skyrim Weird ass place for them. Oh, and to get my old save files to work, I had to place the .ess files into the Saves\[Character] folder of my new character, I couldn't make a new folder with the old character's name. Just. Odd. GlodorFettle
Skyrim doesn't play as full screen and resets all the option I try to save as defaults. It resets graphics each time i log in. Fortunately before the last update i took saved game files as a backup prior to installing the HD texture pack since the update it doesn't recognise any saved games as there is no load option on the launcher. I have also updated to windows 10 but he graphics issue with NVIDIA seems to have resolved itself in other games? Is this windows or Steam related? HELP! Stiffon
I am having this exact issue.I've been away working for 6 weeks, so have not touched Skyrim on my desktop (main). However, while away I did play on my laptop - all the saves appear in the load menu on my laptop, but NONE appear on the load menu on my desktop since my return!!!I checked the save folder and they are all there. I'll have a look at the ini file later to see if it says a different file path (didn't think of that last night).New games save and appear for load but none of the 4000 saves I have! Thanks for the hints and help.
Project579
Steam cloud saves cause a lot of problems with Skyrim disable it on the desktop and the problem should disappear; If your saves are still missing copy the ones on the laptop and move them in Documents\My Games\Skyrim\Saves and leave steam cloud disabled
