So my PC can run an Ultra Modded Fallout 4 at least I think, but I am still getting a serious lag spike especially in the city and it really kicks me out of the game. I was wondering if anyone was willing to help me or has had this problem as well. Any help will be appreciated!

Specs:

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Graphics Card

Intel® Core i7-9700k Processor

CAN I EVEN RUN AN ULTRA MODDED FALLOUT 4?

Hi

Use Fallout 4 Performance Monitor to see what your hardware is doing. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/1762

I use it because it monitors i/o along with GPU and CPU.

CPU. I use a i7 8700k and a i7 8086k to play the game. I rarely have CPU drops but when I used a i7 6700k I had CPU drops all the time.

Your CPU has high IPC so you should not drop below 60fps because of it. If you do it most likely a mod causing it.

Your usage should be around 12.5% or less most of the time.

GPU. My game becomes rough if my GPU hits 100% usage. This happens a lot at 4k with a RTX 2080 ti and not at all at 1440p. When I used a GTX 1080(=2070) on a 3440 X 1440 monitor the game was not smooth on high level saves. It could not handle the built up settlements and the higher NPC counts. Upgrading to a GTX 1080 ti(=2080) fixed it. Make sure your GPU is not hitting 100%.

I/O. The reads as I move around in my high level games can be double of what a 7200rpm HD can handle. This causes pauses and stutter.

My SATA SSDs only have issues with my level 70 or higher characters with slight pauses approaching built up settlements. To get rid of these pauses I think it will take a 970 EVO M.2. A bit costly for one game.

I also had to update the bios on my MX300 Crucial SSDs before they could handle the i/o spikes in my game. I had to use these lines in the fallout4.ini as well.

[General]
sLanguage=en
uGridsToLoad=5
uInterior Cell Buffer=12
uExterior Cell Buffer=144
bDisableAllGore=0
iPreloadSizeLimit=262144000

Save game bloat can cause pauses and stutter as well. When it happened to me the save got over 100mbs before I noticed.

I don't see any mods that cause performance issues in your load list. Usually it is mods like "Scrap Everything".

Even though it is not an issue with me, full screen mode can cause performance issues.

All what already has been said by jones.

(please bear with me for possible non-accurate-terminology)

AFAIK it's a known issue that within the/a city it *could* create lags despite good fps, in many games.

And that c/would be caused by the 'close by Towers' full of enemies, or just plain memory swap (view angle, RAM to disk ; disk to RAM)

But since you have an i7 9700, I assume you'll have more than 8gb ram as well, which therefor shouldnt cause this issue.

However…..

Certain ENB's may cause lag at certain Areas, though, usualy also with a FPS drop…

I'm using one where I have Drops in Fort Hagen (kinda strange imo, FPS Drops down to 25), and in Far Harbor (more obvious, due to all the fog, Drops from 60 to 45-55 fps, but more lags than fort hagen).

Thank you for the responses! I am fine now I managed to fix the issue.

It was the "Real HD Face Textures 2K" mod. I guess the game had to load the textures of the characters faces every time I came within loading distance of one.

Or it was conflicting with the "Facials for Everyone" mod that I also had installed at the time.

Thanks for your help!
