E3245
What are the best computer I can get to play Skyrim and any other of today games? It has to be less than $700, because I don't want to spend 1K on a computer.
Rennn
You're not going to get something amazing for $700, which leaves mostly building one from scratch or buying from a company like Cyberpowerpc or iBuyPower. User feedback is mixed from such companies, but from what I hear they've improved in quality and support over the last couple years. Both my brother and I have had very good experiences with CyberPowerpc in particular. Here are some options: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229334 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227408(Looking at the performance/cost ratio and the reviews, this is probably the best choice of the 3 options I listed.) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229333 Edited July 30, 2012 by Rennn

I'd avoid this one. There isnt too much support for the 8 core processors.

What's going to be better than a PC with a 6850 for $700? My $600 PC (which I've since upgraded extensively) shipped with a 5440... blegh. Prebuilts usually ship with the worst graphics cards. Phalanx108
True, but I'm talking bottlenecks here. Even if it had a 7990 for example, the CPU MAY end up holding the system back.
Rennn
Essentially it's going to be a quad-core cpu at 3.1Ghz, as four cores is the most anybody is really optimizing for. That's pretty solid for $700, unless AMD FX cpus have a drawback I don't know about? Edit: It might also help for future-proofing to have the extra cores, as the next-gen consoles will probably have several cpu cores and therefore next-gen games will probably be more optimized for multiple cores. Phalanx108
Well, there isnt any drawbacks per se, the FX CPU's are actually quite the opposite. They just arent good enough to justify paying what you do for them though.NOTE: I'm not saying that OP shouldnt buy the PC at all, its pretty decent.
