RainWanderer
For anyone who loves the idea of being a cowboy/girl of the post apocalyptic wasteland, a revolver is a must have. However, revolvers are currently something only Guns-focused players are able to enjoy, as there are almost no energy-based revolvers available - I only found one mod that have a true energy-based revolver on nexus: M-2081 Pistol by Omegared99. I understand that realistically, an energy revolver might not make much sense, and plasma pistol in vanila game already served as the one-hand high-powered weapon for energy players. But for the ones that just love the feel of revolvers like me, but is Energy Weapon-focused, we would love to see more of those energy revolvers. I have been trying to make one myself for my personal use, by trying to modify the RHINORevolver by Nester to work like a gauss revolver in GECK, however, as I have no experience in texturing or modelling, the gun does not look like an energy weapon at all. The reason I choose the RHINORevolver is because its model only need a good texture to make it looks like a gauss weapon (the barrel is inside a thick metallic body). Perhaps we can start there. BeefPie
Surely making the weapon fire energy projectiles is the easy bit? I'm no maestro with the GECK but that is all of 5 minutes work. Texturing it would take the longest amount of time.Just making a RHINO fire, say the Gauss projectile, is simple.
flamenx01
Here's some more energy weapons of a similar style to the M-2081: http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/42268

Simply replacing projectile, type of ammunition, sounds and effect with what geck already have is easy. We only need a new texture for the body and a new shell casing nif for it to be a 100% energy weapon. But, if I can do the texturing/modelling part, I wouldn't be making this thread. greenknightfury
There is also the "I choose you Lucky" mod..which I used for awhile that adds several different effect firing versions of the "Lucky" revolver.
devinpatterson
For anyone who loves the idea of being a cowboy/girl of the post apocalyptic wasteland, a revolver is a must have. Defintely, gotta love the wasteland desperado However, revolvers are currently something only Guns-focused players are able to enjoy, as there are almost no energy-based revolvers available - I only found one mod that have a true energy-based revolver on nexus: M-2081 Pistol by Omegared99. I think there is a way that it kind of makes sense. Here is a pic of the energy cell;http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120228172536/fallout/images/5/5a/Energy_Cell.png Essentially you'v got something that isn't too different in physical form than a battery if you take off the metal brace/band. They're also about the size of a cartridge....sure a *large* caliber rifle cartridge like a 45-70 or 50-90, but the same essential shape. No reason in teh world why a weaponsmith in the wasteland wouldn't or couldn't use a motorized cylinder and crane (just like "That Gun" uses) to load up to 6 energy cells in a weapon. It would just be a alternate form of having to reload them in their current shape as clips. I can make a new mesh that looks like a single, individual energy cell (without the brace/band) and just use the shell loading animations. I have been trying to make one myself for my personal use, by trying to modify the RHINORevolver by Nester to work like a gauss revolver in GECK, No problem for personal use, but the big downside is you couldn't share it. Netster's a good guy, but when he gave me permission to use this in the Sunset amusement park mod he was very clear/specific that you can't change the ammo. So to me it seems like a waste to put the energy into it that you are if others can't benefit from it. We only need a new texture for the body and a new shell casing nif for it to be a 100% energy weapon. But, if I can do the texturing/modelling part, I wouldn't be making this thread. No problem, I can set this up for you. I have several models I put together for sunset park, quite a while back. It even has built in lore for why a energy weapon is styled in old west fashion. But I can make some custom alterations for you as well (just assume the sunset model has been in the wasteland a while and someone has tinkered or upgraded it). What would you like to see? greenknightfury
hopefully one effect with the regular revolvers is totally avoided with the energy ones, the ridiculous kickback they have. Shooting at the leg of a Ghostperson shouldn't put the bullet into the wall above their head from 3 feet away, the only way to stop the insane kickback is to use ironsights method (holding rightmouse while firing) as someone that has fired a variety of different firearms I can tell you that any revolver that has that much kickback is going to be worse for trying to hit a target fired than thrown. No revolver, other than the insane 50cal ones, has that kind of kickback.
