Xeniferos
Hello everyone. I'm not exactly new to the modding community(have a bit of experience with DA:O modding and toolkit stuffies), but I'm having a bit of trouble getting mods to work with the custom races( http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/8720 ) mod. Here's a picture of what I'd ultimately like to accomplish, but on custom races instead of vanilla. I plan on making my PC and Stenvar brothers from a clan/tribe of sorts, hence why they look very similar; complete with Barbarian armor. http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q250/Xyraphius/Skyrim/StenvarandPC.jpg ^ That's what I'd like to end up with, but on custom races so every NPC isn't sporting the body hair with tribal back tattoo look. (Both are Vanilla Breton/Nord in the picture.) I'd basically like to be able to use "Tattoo for better males mod compilation" (Note: Page is sorta' NSFW-ish?) ( http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/7356 ) with the underweared version of "Better Males - Beautiful Nudes" (Note: Page is NSFW) ( http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/2488 ) on my custom Breton/Nord/Orc. This has been successful on the vanilla versions(Underwear, body hair, and back tattoo are all present on both models) thanks to overrides, but I'd like to make things a little more unique. The problem lies in that when I put the associated files into the CustomNord/CustomOrc/CustomBreton folders, Skyrim hangs infinitely when I try to load my save file. My guess is that custom races can't be loaded with two textures like vanilla races can(unless something weird is happening here for me. I notice both the tattoo dds and body hair dds load together perfectly on vanilla models). However, when I put both of the DDS'es in the CustomRace folders, no dice. Seeing how the custom races don't load override esp files from the root Data folder, is there any way it might be possible to merge both textures into one so I can use them on custom races? Assuming there's no other way to get this to work. Or am I completely wrong on how this works and possibly have someone can enlighten me? Thanks for any and all help/suggestions/etc.! Xeniferos
Sorry for the doublepost, but does anyone know? I tinkered around some more last night and still couldn't figure anything out. :/
jroin
I think you have reassign the "Skeleton", "Body Texture" and "Meshes" as you create your CK race. The skeleton and B.-Texture data can both be found in the "Body data" tab of the CK race menu. Actors\Character\Character Assets\skeleton.nifActors\Character\UpperBodyHumanMale.egt override, the above, with your target Skeleton and Texture. the mashes however have to be added as "naked body-part" that you'll then link to your Custom race. See, that's the weird thing. The mod says that the custom races actually read the vanilla race files, hence why you have access to the same presets, skin tones, etc. on custom races. That said, the custom race has already been created, as it were, as per the "Custom Races" mod. Admittedly, I'm also not really sure how to go about doing what you've just described. >< I can get the body type no problem with the Skeleton.nif files in the custom race folders. The problem is getting both the "body hair" and "tattoo" body textures to both show up on the actual model. At present, both the tattoo and body hair files are named "malebody_1.dds", so they can't both exist in the Data/Textures/CustomRaces/Custom<Race> folder. And I still don't understand why my file refuses to load when the "Tattoo" body texture is put into the custom race directory. It only works with the "Body Hair" file. jroin
it sounds like one of those two textures (the tattooed one) is used as a "overlay" or mask but I never saw such a option anywhere. try looking in the tattoo mod esp too find-out where it goes. on the bright side, looking in to your problem actually help me out with an bug I encountered with my own race-mods.the CK randomly set all the body-data paths to Actors\Character\Character Assets\skeleton.nif (this does NOT work). Xeniferos
Now that I'm looking into it... Would it be possible to open both DDSes in something like GIMP or Photoshop(With appropriate plugin, of course) and just copy the back layer over the DDS of the skin with the body hair? The maori tattoo is on the back and the body hair is on the front, so it should theoretically work... Right? Hmm... It might be in my best interest to just take the body hair dds and add my own tattoo skin from scratch, as much as I really love that maori texture. Then again, couldn't I contact the owner of the mod and see if he'd be willing to upload the resource? Also, I'm glad I could help out, though I'm not sure what I did. :) If I can figure this out we'll be golden!
jroin
well, you didn't do much except ask for help..., when I then looked at the Body-data Paths (in one of my race mods) for reverence and examples, it struck me that all three paths were set to: "Actors\Character\Character Assets\skeleton.nif" this is the male skeleton even-though the gender was the Female and it was also set for the Behavior Graph and the Body texture, this seams to happen on random
