Praelias
I need some serious help with my fallout 4. I've run into plenty of issues with it before but I haven't ever seen anything like this. So, I got a new laptop yesterday. My game is a fresh install. I tested it before doing mods to make sure vanilla launched, and it did. All good. So I got my mods, and f4se, and it was fine for a bit. I realized I forgot two of my mods, so I downloaded them. That's where I ran into issues. Only, removing those two new mods didn't fix my issue. So I did the "half and half" method where you disable half your mods to help narrow down which ones could be the issue. At this point, vanilla isn't launching through Steam and the standard launcher OR f4se. F4SE, which I double checked to make sure is compatible with my game version, is currently doing one of three things: launching the game only to give me a black screen that I can only alt+tab out of (which sometimes doesn't work; I have to open task manager and navigate to Fallout and close it blindly, because the black window won't go away), or launches the fo4 launcher, or opens steam. The regular launcher either launches the game (if it does, after I hit "New Game" I get an infinite loading screen), or does the same black window that f4se does, or does a black window in windowed/borderless mode - which I don't even have on. Sometimes the launcher just re-opens the launcher, regardless of whether it was opened by Steam or f4se. Can someone please tell me what the actual f*#@ my game is doing??? What I've tried: - Disabling all active mods - Disabling antivirus - Restarting laptop - Restarting Steam - Reinstalling F4SE - Verifying game files in Steam - Running F4SE as admin - Running Fallout 4 as admin - Restarting steam in offline mode and launching that way. Didn't think it'd help, but someone suggested it so I tried. - And probably some other stuff I've forgotten. The only thing I can think of is just reinstalling the game at this point, which I'd rather not do but I will if I have to. Update: Re-installed the game, and vanilla works fine on the desired resolution and graphics settings. F4SE still just does the same thing though. Undeadbob666
Do you have mods enabled in your falloutcustom.ini (I think its that one)? Also post your load order and people can better narrow down which mod is doing it (sounds like a ENB graphics mod, or your graphic presets). Reinstalling fallout does nothing, ever in any sort of problem your having with a game reinstalling it does not help. Vanilla is launching again, with and without F4SE. I'm currently working on re-downloading my mods, but last time I just let LOOT sort them for me. If the issue persists once they're done, I'll post the load order for more help.

Reinstalling fallout does nothing, ever in any sort of problem your having with a game reinstalling it does not help. EDIT: I downloaded a safe file off of Nexus, and that loads just fine. The issue is apparantly starting a new game; I'd say it's probably an issue with Start Me Up, but the issue was there before that mod was installed. Alright, so after a reinstall of Fallout 4, NMM, and F4SE, and redoing all the mods, I'm back to just an infinite loading screen when trying to start a new game. I don't have any save files so I can't test to see if it does it while loading one. At this point I've gotten rid of about half of my mods, which really sucks but w/e. Here's my load order, which I let LOOT sort as usual: GameMode=Fallout4 Fallout4.esm=1DLCRobot.esm=1DLCworkshop01.esm=1DLCCoast.esm=1DLCworkshop02.esm=1DLCworkshop03.esm=1DLCNukaWorld.esm=1HUDFramework.esm=1EthreonMasterPlan.esm=1ArmorKeywords.esm=1SettlementKeywords.esm=1Settlement Electricity Overhaul.esm=1Homemaker.esm=1PinUpRedLipstick.esp=1WorkshopRearranged.esp=1Vault75PlayerHome.esp=1Wasteland Workshop Streetlights.esp=1Vivid Fallout - All in One - Best Choice.esp=1TransferSettlements.esp=1LooksMenu.esp=1SettlementMenuManager.esp=1Northland Diggers.esp=1Northland.esp=1Insignificant Object Remover.esp=1LongerPowerLinesInf.esp=1CBBE.esp=1AllSetsExtended.esp=1Business Settlements.esp=1BusySettlers.esp=1Vivid Weathers - FO4.esp=1DarkerNightsDetection.esp=1ImmersiveDogmeat.esp=1SettleObjExpandPack.esp=1DarkerNights.esp=1Vivid Weathers - FO4 - Spring.esp=1Vivid Weathers - FO4 - Far Harbor.esp=1Vivid Weathers - Nuka World.esp=1Eli_Accessories.esp=1nvvault1080.esp=1FairlineHillDraco_FixedRoofs.esp=1No Combat Boundaries.esp=0CREEPCleanRedRocket.esp=1Vivid Weathers - FO4 - Quest.esp=1QuazVehicleOverhaul.esp=1QuazForgottenCabin.esp=1Diverse Cats.esp=1QuazNoirApartment.esp=1Eli_Rockin Red Rocket.esp=1Vivid Waters.esp=1ClassicSniper.esp=1BOUNTIESFORYOU.esp=1RegsPrefabs.esp=1Scrap Everything - Ultimate Edition.esp=1StartMeUp.esp=1DOOMDesertEagle.esp=1SnappingClothesRack.esp=0WDP-PC.esp=0MoreVaultRooms.esp=0Eli_RuggedOutfits.esp=1Eli_Sleeveless Outfits.esp=1EoW_MakeupColors.esp=1Femshepping_wanderercollection.esp=1Homemaker - Streetlights Use Passive Power.esp=1AkaInvisibleFurniture.esp=1MacCreadyOutfit.esp=1AzarPonytailHairstyles.esp=1SettlementPrivacy.esp=1Eli_PrudyVaultJumpsuit.esp=1Survivalist GoBags-Chem Station.esp=1QuazTelevisionReplacer.esp=1THBrows.esp=1The Eyes Of Beauty.esp=1TroublemakerOutfit.esp=1AdventurerOutfit.esp=0TotW.esp=0OutcastsAndRemnants.esp=0SLR.esp=0Thematic and Practical.esp=0Prefabs.esp=0V's Stylish Decor2.esp=
Undeadbob666
If its a new game issue (sorry for the delay in my response) you might need to disable all mods except for start me up, then when your game loads with your new start me up background save your game and then enable all your mods. Also Loot works up to a point for F04 (seems to work way better for skyrim) you may still have to manually tweak your load order list. I'm slightly sleep deprived right now, but I think the only issue I see is start me up needs to be at the bottom of the load order I think. I've used this FAQ on Load Order many times before, maybe it will help you with yours? No guarantee it will fix your issue Edited March 3, 2019 by Undeadbob666

I completely removed Start Me Up from my game to test (again) and see if that was the issue, and I still couldn't start a new game. Wouldn't that rule it out as the problem? Undeadbob666
Hmm yes I think it would, what other mods are enabled when trying to start a new game? One really freaking tedious method is to disable all your mods, and then enable one mod and try to start a new game. Do this until your game won't start. If that doesn't help the only other thing I could think of is that one of those mods needs to be updated or downgraded to the version of F4SE you have installed. I have the issue even with all mods disabled, after a fresh install. It started a new game just fine when I had no mods downloaded. In regards to F4SE, I checked it twice; the version I'm using is compatible with my game, and if I have an outdated version, it won't let me use it.
