Which version of Vortex are you on? - 0.17.5

What game are you trying to mod with Vortex? - Fallout 4

How many mods do you have installed? - 300 or so.

What environment are you running Vortex on? - Windows 10 10.0.17763.253] x64 128G RAM

When I loaded Vortex today and it gave an error (i can't remember the exact wording) along the lines of can't determine game mode. I closed it and opened it again and there are no games and no mods listed. I tell it to scan games and it can;t find any even though Fallout 4 is there and I can play it. I have attached latest log.

Did you have Fallout 4 managed by Vortex before when this occurred?

If not, have you tried setting the location for FO4 manually?

When you say "there are no games", can you be more precise? Surely Fallout 4 would at least be in the "supported" or "discovered" tab, from where you should be able to set its location manually.

The error indicates that your Vortex installation has been corrupted.
There is several possible reasons for this:
- You have a virus
- You have some other software that's not malicious but bugged that messed with Vortex files
- You have a hardware defect, either on your hard disk or your memory
- You yourself manipulated vortex and "forgot" to tell us
- Something went wrong during the last vortex installation/update (e.g. installer crashed) and this is a subsequent error of that

Most of these will be resolved by redownloading and reinstalling Vortex (which will not affect your existing setup) but obviously if the problem is a virus or hardware defect it may only be a temporary fix.

Thanks for getting back to me. It was getting stressful. :)

I will keep an eye out for HW defect as the other possible reasons are highly unlikely on my setup.

Re-downloading and installing the latest beta has appeared to fix the issue! :ninja:

Might be a good idea to post this on the FAQ.
