This doesn't necessarily mean the worst, but it's a pain in the butt:

 

I suggest you make a backup copy of your entire Data folder with all its contents for safekeeping in the event of catastrophe.

 

Don't delete your save games. (You may want to back them up for safekeeping as well but uninstalling from the Oblivion CD shouldn't touch them.)

 

Then uninstall oblivion but leave everything else in place. Then re-install oblivion from the CD right over top of the same folder -- just reinstall it again to the same folder path.

 

Your mods will still be there, but the original files will be reinstalled, hopefully resetting the original sit command files and animations.

 

Then start your latest save game again, and see if that hasn't fixed it.

This problem happened to me too. It was on my long played save(250 hours or so) when i try to sit down the player just get stuck standing and you need to reload a saved game. It was like this before i downloaded any mod at all and my guess Is that this happened because of a large save file. (it don't happend on my new saves)

Equally it is a bug that the game faces when you have completed the Knight of the Nine questline. I found this out even on the XBOX 360 version.

 

If this is the case then I would recommend that players should complete the Shivering Isles questline before the Knights of the Nine. This is mainly because as soon as you enter the little room with Haskill, he asks you to be civil and sit down, but this bug from Knights of the Nine prevents it and thus prevents you from starting the Shivering Isles questline.
