Schattenu
SPOILERS AHEAD!! Yep, found a number of bugs in Dawnguard already. :P Up until now they've all been fixable or bypass-able through console commands and whatnot, but I can't figure out this one. I'm doing Unseen Visions (vampire side), where you go to the Ancestor Glade to get that knife, get some bark, attract Ancestor Moths and read the Elder Scroll. Mostly went fine, got all seven groups of moths to follow me around, Serana mentioned how I'm glowing (which is an understatement, I'm walking around like a giant light bulb). But I step into the pillar of light to read the Blood Elder Scroll and something goes wrong. My character reads the Scrolls, I see the map with Markarth and Solitude highlighted in red, my vision goes all white and then I'm back in the Glade, but I can't do anything. I can't move, I can't even spin the camera around, only things I'm able to do are bring up my menus and shift between first- and third-person views. I tried reloading a save, but the same thing happened. Anyone know what's going on? Appreciate any help in advance! :)
Schattenu
I really hate to be that guy to bump his thread, but I'm getting kind of worried since I've tried several things and I'm unable to do a single thing in the game after reading the Scrolls. Also, I was mistaken, I actually can't access all the menus, only the save game one and the console. No inventory, map, magic, stats, or favorites menu can be brought up. B1oodx
I know it sucks to do, but did you try to Setstage (yourquestsid) (#) # = number of stage you wish to complete 70 for example. I had to do this with the moth priest quest, he wouldnt become my thrall no matter how many times i bit him. Just look up your quest ID and the next stage of the quest on http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim.
Schattenu
I was worried about trying that, because I ended up having to do that with a Dark Brotherhood quest a while back and that ended up breaking quest dialogue and therefore the quest itself. I actually did manage to get around it using the "enableplayercontrols" console command, since the vision cutscene seemed to refuse to re-enable player controls. I was able to talk to Serana and finish the quest, but now I have a bit of a side effect where the Ancestor Moths won't go away and are following me all the way to Darkfall Cave, heh. Not sure what to do about that yet.

Schattenu
I console commanded the setstage thing to skip the "collect moths" step, so I read the Scrolls without the moths. It worked, though I hit another quest-breaking bug at the end of Touching the Sky, and not sure if that was related to what I did or not.

Bloodgod888
I know I am here late.Nevertheless, here is the solution. When you go into the cave and get the knife of the moth priest DO NOT attract the moths until after you've done what I've instructed. This is why I say this.If you do the following code ,which is "setstage dlc1vq06 200" after you have attracted the moths, you will have completed the quest but you will have another problem. That problem will be that you will still have the aura around you, and if you are a vampire lord, the only way to get rid of that aura is to transform into the vampire lord and then revert to human form again. This will only be resolved until you decide to switch to first person after which the aura will return. So!Without further adue, ( however you spell that ) here is how you get out of this glitch.Open the console and type "setstage dlc1vq06 30" ( just as you see here ).Press enter. Then type, "setstage dlc1vq06 200", then enter. It will appear as follows in your console: setstage dlc1vq06 30setstage dlc1vq06 200 30 is to complete the "attract ancestral moths" quest and 200 is for the "read elder scroll blood" quest.Close the console and the quest will be complete.Again I strongly advise you to put the code in to complete the attract ancestral moths" because you will be stuck with the aura if you don't.Have fun!
