  1. This seems like such an inconsequential request, I know, but I don't know the first thing about modding myself. Basically, I finally got the Dark Lorica from the Everfall, and I love the look of it, other than those big shoulder plate things. More specifically, how they sit on top of (and slightly clip through at the front) any of the shoulder capes that wrap around the front of the chest. Would it be possible to mod those off? Thanks for any help!
  2. I'm 90% sure this is caused by a mod, and I can't for the life of me figure out which one is the culprit. I've been disabling and enabling all of them like crazy. It happens in the exact same spot every time, so it's not some random thing. In the outdoor section of Red Eagle Redoubt, the upper camp area. As soon as I get to the top of that wide staircase from the cave exit, immediate crash. I was even there semi-recently for the Briarheart quest in Dragonborn and had no issues, but none of the recent mods I've downloaded since then seem to be the cause, as far as I can tell. Here's my load order: Edit: I don't know if anyone can still help, but I've recently found that it's actually affecting a wider area of the Reach. Every time I get near Karthwasten, I get a CTD as well, so it seems like the general area north of Karthspire. I haven't had any problems at any other locations in the game. Still can't figure out the problem, I don't have any mods that should affect that area, and even so I've been deleting/deactivating pretty much all of them with no success.
  3. I did try god mode to test that, it's unrelated. Happens with that on, too.
  4. Heh yeah, it's incredibly aggravating. It might happen again, though, it's happened to me repeatedly. That's why I said it's a temporary fix. It's also a reliable fix, though, so it'll have to do until/unless someone manages to find the cause and give a more permanent solution.
  5. I started having the same problem recently. Haven't the slightest idea where it came from, but I found a temporary fix, provided you're on PC: in the console, enter "player.getav speedmult" and that will show what your movement speed is. It should be 100, but chances are it's around 55 for some reason. The type in "player.modav speedmult X" where "X" is the number you add to get it back up to 100 (so 45, if it's at 55). It doesn't always register the change in your movement speed, but entering and exiting sneak mode should get it back to normal. Like I said, though, it's only a temporary fix.
  6. So, after many computer changes and issues that were finally solved, I've recently gotten back to playing Skyrim after a long while. Got a lot of the great mods back, everything's good. For whatever reason, though, Miraak's sword has weirdly quiet sound effects. The effects are there, but barely. It's literally the only weapon in the game that's doing this, and I haven't the faintest idea why. Only mods I have that could affect it are "Miraak's Sword Improved" and "Immersive Sounds - Weaponry". Might be an issue somewhere in there, although I can't imagine why the latter would only affect one specific weapon. And the former just alters the enchantments a bit. Not exactly game-breaking, and it's something I can certainly live with, it's just distracting as hell. So I'd appreciate any kind of insight, if anyone has any.
  7. So a while back, I finally got a new, upgraded PC. I eventually got around to re-installing a few games, including Skyrim. I should note that this issue is with the regular version, I don't have the special edition. Anyway, it seems like after a few minutes or so of gameplay, random textures will turn black. It's different each time, it could be bales of hay, parts of buildings, wooden carts, NPCs' faces, all sorts of stuff. It goes away if I quit the game and restart it, but always comes back after a bit. The same thing happens in New Vegas, although it's never been an issue in Fallout 4 or any other games I've played. I can't figure out for the life of me what's causing this, because this new PC is improved in pretty much every way over the previous one, where this never happened. The game itself actually runs a lot smoother than before, and I haven't started adding mods to it yet (whereas Skyrim and NV on my old computer were very mod-heavy, but the issue never came up). The only thing I can possibly think of is that my memory or VRAM or whatever is being drained at a ridiculous rate, and I have no idea how I could possibly solve that. Or why it's even happening in the first place. I'm not super tech-savvy, so any help regarding this would be hugely appreciated! Screenshot example of what I'm talking about, if it helps any: http://i.imgur.com/HtNuut4.png
  8. Well this is different. I though it might be an issue with Better Vampires, but I checked that mod's page and didn't see anything that would cause this. Several vampire abilities simply stopped working in my game. I let Harkon bite me, and everything went well, I even went to a bandit camp after, transformed and raided the place in VL form. After changing back, about thirty seconds later I ran across some looters on the road. I select the VL ability, press the button, but nothing happens. Mist Form won't work either, but a few things like night vision, vampire's servant and a few other work fine. Shouting works fine as well, since it's the same button. Any help would be appreciated!
  9. Nothing I haven't had running for ages. Don't even make it the cave, though.
  10. So it seems I'm incapable of creating any new characters. I keep getting a CTD at the exact same spot, when Hadvar's in the middle of his "Still alive, prisoner?" line after jumping through the inn roof. I've tried several times now and it always happens at that exact point. I can play with already existing characters with no problem, when back to one and played for a couple hours without issue. I have no idea what's changed, anyone know?
  11. Awesome, despite my luck with removing mods sometimes, everything went smoothly and the game still works lol. Major thanks! :D
  12. I know I might be worrying over nothing lol, but I'm currently using XPMS and I need to remove it (at least temporarily). Is it safe to just delete the files from the mod? I checked around but couldn't find much that was helpful, so figured I'd ask here. Not real familiar with these types of mods, so just wanted to make sure before I start deleting things all willy-nilly. Thanks!
  13. Decided to do that vampire quest in Morthal with a new-ish character, haven't done it in ages. But every time I try to save outside Movarth's Lair, or when I try to enter it, I get an instant CTD. I even turned and walked away from it a bit, and it saved with no issue. Never had any problems with this place before, no idea why it's giving me issues, TES5Edit isn't throwing up any red flags when I run it. Anyone know what's up?
  14. Nope, both the manual save and autosaves cause CTD almost immediately. What could have possibly corrupted it? Edit: Okay, weirdest thing. If I load an earlier save (either a previous character or one of the earlier autosaves) and then load the manual save that kept crashing, it loads up fine. But if I try to load my latest manual save or the most recent autosave straight from the main menu, I get a CTD almost instantly. Think it might have something to do with the Volkihar ruins? Because that's where both saves are, the autosave right as I entered it from the courtyard, and the manual save in Valerica's lab.
  15. So for whatever reason I keep getting CTDs as soon as I try to load a game, even though it worked fine earlier and I haven't altered the game in any way since then. I'm not getting any red flags from BOSS or TES5Edit, so I have no idea what the problem is. If it helps, here's the papyrus log (that I have no idea how to read):
  16. So I've hit a weird and annoying problem. I can't get past Faralda to enter the College. First time I tried, she told me to cast Firebolt on the ground and said I could enter when I did. However, I couldn't exit the conversation with her. No dialogue options and she's not speaking or moving, and not of my keys will respond, other than ~ to open the console. But I can't tab out. I reloaded and then she told me I didn't have a high enough magic skill to even take the test, even though I had several Apprentice level spells in each school. So I went with the "I"m the Dragonborn" approach and same glitch above happened, she initiated a conversation to let me in but I can't get out of it. What on earth is happening?
  17. Only the one ran, the one with the note stayed to fight. I did try using the "kill" console command and tried making her unessential, but she ended up freezing in combat stance without attack and took no damage. Like I said, though, problem seems to have fixed itself.
  18. So for whatever reason, when I get stopped by the cultists added by Dragonborn in Morthal on my way to Ustengrav, the one I'm supposed to get the note from is apparently marked as essential. The other one runs off somewhere, no idea where he goes, I assume the guards go after him. I use that Heartbreaker mod and tried to use that, since it can allow me to kill essential people, but I can't search the body when she dies. I've had these cultists initiate the Dragonborn quest many times over several characters, but this is the first time this is happened. Anyone know what's up? Edit: Nevermind, third time's the charm, I guess. Reloaded a couple times, for whatever reason things proceeded as normal again. Weird.
  19. Huh... I have no idea what I have that could possible affect that cell in particular, but thanks! :D
  20. At least I think it's Italian, it looks Italian. It's labeled "Rovine Glaciali di Alftand" in my game, and is the only cell not in English. Without exiting the game or the save file, Skyrim, Blackreach, Alftand Animonculory and Alftand Cathedral are all correctly labeled in English, it's just the glacial ruin part: http://i.imgur.com/gpiht84.jpg http://i.imgur.com/NQloHwq.jpg Hardly anything game-breaking, and since I left the whole ruin behind with the Elder Scroll it's not likely to affect my game in the slightest, but I'm hoping it's not permanent heh. Anyone know what's causing it?
  21. Ah lol that would actually make a lot of sense XD Edit: Well then. I loaded up the game and continued to Kynesgrove, awaiting the inevitable crash. I arrived there, killed the dragon Alduin raised, returned the Horn to the Greybeards, and met up with Delphine in Riverwood again with no issues. Granted, there were points where I played for a good while before a CTD (went to Riverwood from Ustengrav and walked almost all the way to Windhelm without crashes before) but this was the longest I've gone in a while. I dunno if it's fixed, and if so I can't imagine why adding those couple things to the .ini would solve it, but I'll play again tomorrow and see if anything else happens. The new logs folder is empty anyway. This is so weird lol, but major thanks for all the assistance! :D
  22. Well I added the stuff to the .ini but I'm still not seeing any papyrus log files or folders.
  23. Yeah, don't have that folder, unfortunately. Put in the new stuff in the .ini though.
  24. Pretty sure I downloaded the compatibility patch for Nico's weapons, but I'll double check. The game at least managed to load up my save this time, but I only got another twenty seconds worth of playtime when it crashed again. :/
