[LE] CK render window percentage value & MB ?

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody.

I know that 157MB is the total amount of GPU/VRAM that can be used by the rendering window and that the percentage value is the object count, this also means, more objects more havoc chaos.

However i've encounter cells that have :

M#: 566% (889 MB / 157.00 MB)

Way over the suggested limit, and i haven't encountered any issues in loading it in CK or playing it.

* I have also constructed cells that exceeds way more the suggested values without encountering problems.

My question is very simple :

- Does exceeding those values affect in any way the gameplay / PC performance ?

(exept cell loading time)

(i'm always talking about an interior and fully optimaize cell).

- Does exceeding those values affect in any way CK ?.

- Since i haven't been able to see any difference at all, what does those number actually means and what its use is ?.

- Or, those values just reflects the PCs capabilities of when (year) the game was released ?.

* It's been bothering me for a looooong time...

The CK used to have a limit that was removed a few years back.

The size a mod could be was also changed. So you're fine.

As for effecting performance I'm sure it could if not put together properly.
Or if you just added to many mods like that, that effect the same area you're in.
This is the cause of the infamous black body "bug" ...

Not sure if that is what you are talking about ...

The percentage value is the Current Memory Used / Max Memory allowed. (889 / 157) x 100 = 566%.

So there is a memory limit & in general there are limits in how much ststic objects you can use in one cell.

* i'm just researching this because i have one cell that is quite heavy, although 98% of it's item are static and only 2% uses havoc, & i want to keep it as one cell and not divide it.

I have, for my mod, an area that is quite large though the percentage is probably just 108% (I think the Castle in Dawnguard is 114%) and I was getting a bit of lag when I turned my character toward different areas. Now, (and this is a learning moment for me) some of the halls and rooms don't work well with room bounds as they are too close together, have stuff going through the walls, etc.

I ended up using Occlusion planes and that solved the problem extremely well. I use them in several maps.

Additionally, I loaded up my mod on a low end computer and actually tested off it. I discovered some things would cause the game to crash so I had to change some things around and that ended up solving the crashing. Mostly a lot of sound and enable/disable objects.
