SoulCodex
I'm trying to get some feedback on how much interest there would be in a tool similar to Lilac Soul's Script Generator for Neverwinter Nights but for Bethesda's games, and also how much assistance I might be lucky enough to get in developing it should there be a high demand for such a tool.Lilac Soul was one of the people who first got me into programming so many years ago with that tool, simply by making it so easy to make simple scripts, though these days there are a lot of advanced scripters that I talk with quite a bit, I'm not sure there is such a high demand for it....To clear some things up, such a tool is not meant for writing complex scripts, it is more for the easier scripts that people must use every day, in areas such as quest design, and conversation scripting, though I think with enough polish, it could potentially be a lot more (and also much bigger) project for Bethesda script.I'm more interested in developing it for Skyrim, but the potential to make it for any of Bethesda's games is also an option, as the scripting languages are not so radically disimilar (atleast superficially). If a tool like this already exists, my apologies, as I've not heard of it, if it does not exist, I will start work on it when I'm certain it is needed, it would be hosted on sourceforge, and as such, open source, I would be encouraging as many people as I could to get involved, and would even be willing to opt for a more skilled programmer to head it up.I've not really decided on a programming language, but for simplicity sake, I would probably choose C# + .NET, but if this become a problem, we could always use Native code - I just don't really see the need...So if you'd like to see this tool developed, or would, just for fun, like to develop something like this, here is the place to talk about it. Soul Codex (of no relationship at all to the original Lilac one). EDIT: If replying to this thread is against T.O.S. of this forum - could a moderator please move it - rather than it get cross posted in a few weeks/months... Until I have some more information on the rules reguarding this forum - please private message me rather than reply here.
