Player gets stuck after feeding in Dawnguard

Try doing it from 1st oerson view. It worked for me. That took the animation out.Its probably an animation script error

Are there any fixes for this yet? I have no blood mods, I feed using the ring of namira and suddenly I'm in idle animation, can't move, can draw my weapon but just put it away when I try to use it. Other animations not working are the enchant, alchemy, workbench and grindstone, I use any of those and within a second of starting the crafting I'm kicked out and the animation ends.

Sadly, I came across this "walking" issue last night. I finished Dawnguard and then had Serena turn my pc into a vampire, which worked fine and dandy. I then went to Riverwood and my pc seduced and fed off one of the females without an issue. But then when my character fed off someone and got caught by the guards, the pc became frozen in place once the feeding animation ended. I tried the re-enable controls code and everything without any luck. I then went back to an earlier save and repeated the process, once again I was able to feed fine when guards weren't alerted but when I snuck into another house to feed again and the guards were alerted, my character was stuck in place once again. It seems like the feeding animation somehow gets borked up if the guards are called.

I'm not using any vampire mods but I am using Tales of Lycanthropy and Victorias High Heel walk, but I don't think those two mods would have an impact on vampirism, totally unrelated.

_{A really late post to this debate but seeing as there was no answer I think it's worth my 2p.}

_{Started as a Vamp using Live Another Life so started at stage 3 I think. I know I went up to stage 4 by the impact.}

 

_{Here's the funny bit. I didn't feed for ages and noticed that I was regenerating H, S, M in the daytime outside albeit at a heavily reduced rate. I presumed that this was normal.}

_{Then I fed. On Olava the Feeble - hey, blood is blood after all. Everything worked fine and I reverted to Stage 1. AT this point there was no daytime regeneration of H, S or M.}

_{I moved up to Stage 2 and decided to feed on Anders the priest. I was in 1st person and it went into the animation but it didn't progress beyond seeing the back of the PC, a slight move forward, the red screen then the camera panned back and the message about a successful feed appeared. No neck biting.}

_{At that point I went 1st person and tried to move. Nothing happened. I glanced left and right and camera only rotated 90 degrees and I could see my arms. I drew a weapon but it auto sheathed. I enabled spells and activated them (drew them) and my arms appeared then got stuck. Great!}

_{I then shouted UF. Anders never woke but he did make some sort of groaning sound. The pop up option for pickpocket appeared "E - Pickpocket Anders" or some such and wouldn't disappear. I tried to do it and Anders inventory appeared - no option to feed this time. I shouted again. Anders never woke. I then tried to feed and lo and behold "E" allowed me to feed, progressed through the full animation and allowed me to move.}

 

_{At somepoint I reloaded and tried to feed again on Olava (this having been successful once) and the exact same thing happened as with Anders - up to my getting stuck. I didn't shout as this was before getting to that point later with Anders but the issue was the same.}

 

_{The issue is an animation glitch. Something gets stuck in the animation. Well, that is what I believe happened to me.}

 

_{I then reloaded. Went to fee don Anders. Same problem. I shouted UF. Anders yelled, but didn't wake. I pressed "E" again, could feed and everything went fine. Haven't tried this further but 2x using UF worked. I don't have other shouts at present so can't test them but maybe other shouts will work as well.}

I'm pretty sure what about this bug.

For all who do using the creation kit:

 

If the player character will be put in an alias while the animation vampire feeding runs on the player, the game will freeze.

So you only have to put on the reference alias "player" from all new modded quests the condition " getvampirefeed == 0"

 

And you'll come out of this bug, for sure.

I'm having this same issue. I was fine for a rather long while with my vampire but then this bug started happening after I enthralled and fed on Sigrid in Riverwood and every feeding after that. I've tried disabling every single mod I have installed, reloading an earlier save and setting my race but this thing won't give up. Interestingly my db's eyes turned back into human some time after this started happening without me doing a thing.

 

The feeding animation doesn't play for me at all anymore, the screen just flashes red when I'm a vampire and I get the health boost from using the ring of namira, but I get stuck in both cases. I can still drink a potion of blood with no issues, though so that's what's keeping my poor vampire afloat.

 

I've already had to drop 2 other characters due to major bugs, if someone could come up with a solid solution that would be great.

I've struggled with my vampire characters freezing after feeding ever since I downloaded the Legendary Edition for PC. :facepalm:

 

First of all, a common sense suggestion- always SAVE before feeding. Now, here's how I've overcome the glitch: Once you've become stuck after feeding, activate the feeding animation again while trying to back away from the victim by holding down the S key or pulling back on the directional lever of your controller whilst holding down the E key or A button on an XBOX 360 controller. After attempting to retreat/feed 1-3x, this usually breaks my vampire free. Granted, I feed nightly and primarily on sleepers after doing a little B&E... if you know what I mean. :thumbsup: It works on both 1st and 3rd person animation freeze-ups... for me, at least. I will test this method on standing cattle and seduced victims, purposely trying to get stuck just to see if I can free my vampire using this technique. I hope this helps my fellow vamp fans!

 

 

*UPDATE* I've now tested this workaround on both cattle and seduced victims. I managed to (intentionally) get stuck during both tests. I added one vampire cattle to my location, via console. Unlike the cattle in Castle Volkihar, this vampire cattle came out of his trance-like state after my second successful retreat/feed maneuvers. Then he attacked me, which was amusing. :tongue:

 

I added the Vampire Seduction spell to my character and tried it out on a shopkeeper. The first attempt worked perfectly. The second attempt ended when the seduction spell ceased... I broke me free, but I also set the shopkeeper into a rage. OOOPS! :ohmy: The third casting of Vampire Seduction to simply execute the retreat/feed animation maneuver proved successful yet again. I also discovered that I didn't have to retreat backwards; to either side works just as well, I'm happy to report. :dance:

 

Done and done! Yay!!! Finally overcame that horrible issue!

And now back to being a proper vampire- drinking straight from the source and NOT from a bottle! :yucky: Tru Blood, anyone? LOL :rolleyes:

 

I realize (of course) that this fix might work only for me, but it is my sincere hope that it will work for others who struggle with this same issue. BEST OF LUCK!!! :woot:
