Dawnguard bug, can't feed (different from other thread)

Heya guys, I recently installed the Dawnguard DLC on top of my skyrim. I chose to join the vampires in the dawnguard questline, and ever since ive noticed bugs with feeding.

Firstly, when trying to feed on sleeping NPCs, the game gives me the menu for "feed" or "pick pocket". When selecting "feed", nothing happens and my vampirism level does not decrease. This seems to be a slightly different bug then already mentioned in this forum, because the choice to feed wasnt even available there.

Even more annoyingly tho, my ability to feed on living NPCs (by use of the vampire seduction power) is bugged too. When using vampire seduction on an NPC, they become passive as intended. However, uppon using E on (activating) the NPC, in stead of getting the menu with the feed option I just cause the NPC to talk to me. At that point they tell me how cruel i am for using magic on them, and how they are gonna kill me when it wears off..... This bug is causing me to get stuck on the prophet quest, because that requires you to feed on someone while he is still alive.

I've read some other troubleshooting threads where people had similar bugs. People there suggested that this might be due to the game not recognising the player as a vampire race. This could bebecause of excessive use of player.setrace commands. Its a possibility that this has caused the bug for me, but in load menu's the game does mention that I am a dark elf vampire (which is correct). Also, using the "player.setrace darkelfracevampire" line didnt fix the problem.

Also, some bugs seem to occur because through a bug you are both vampire and werewolf at the same time. Although I was a werewolf before starting the dawnguard questline and changing into a vampire lord, I dont have any remaining magic effects or powers related to Lycanthropy left on me. So i doubt this is causing the bugs.

Lastly, I did have the belua sanguinare vampire overhaul mod installed prior to getting dawnguard. This might have something to do with whats causing the bug, but it's worth noting that I hadn't actually used the vampirism potion included in the mod to turn into a belua sanguinare vampire. Might removing this mod or deactivating it help towards fixing this problem?

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks in advance

Mmm, this problem happened to me with one of my other saves, though I did have the vampire blood before the update. I think that's the main problem as the update probably would have changed the features of becoming a vampire and etc. I think this mostly because standing feed was added in for vampire lords and etc. The only way I see to solve this is creating a character and console command level it up to ten and see if this bug is still continuing. This bug is caused by a conflict with a vampire script in the /data/script folder that probably originated from a vampire mod created before dawnguard. It doesn't help to uncheck the ESM/ESP.

I solved the problem by installing one of the new vampire mods created to fit with Dawnguard: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/5863.

The mod changes how vampire works (for the better IMO) but it also remove any conflict with Dawnguard and earlier mods so I can highly recommend it.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Swiftflame, i tried what you suggested, making a new character clean of vampirism and lycanthropy, and getting vamped by harkon again. I suffer from the exact same problem with this new character, so i have to assume from this that its not caused by a conflict with Lycanthropy.

afoaa, i'd really like to try the mod that fixed the problem for you, but the link you posted doesnt seem to work for me. I just get sent to a "recent new mods" screen, rather then any one specifc mod. Could you check the link or tell me the exact name of the mod? I hope it works just as well for me as it did for you :).

Alright nice, i fixed it! Turns out that installing the vampire upgrade mod wasn't even needed to fix the bug. Just removing the outdated version of belua sanguinare already did the trick. Thanks a lot Raferu, Afoaa and Swiftflame for the help.

Glad to see your problem's fixed ^_^ As for mine: each problem solved created a new one; it got to the point where I couldn't even launch Skyrim without it crashing immediatly. I got tired and reinstalled the whole thing :( I decided to start a new game, get transformed into a Vampire Lord and see if it works as intended. If not... well, there's always many different ways to spend time.
