Anyone else disappointed with the Stormcloak questline?

Because the thalmor could care less about skyrim and its w/e. They want the Civil War to continue for as long as possible so it continues to distract the empire, Ulfric wants to rule over skyrim and fight the thalmor, except by trying to defy the empire he is doing EXACTLY what the Thalmor want him too. If you would just READ BACK a few pages you would not have these questions ~.~

The civil war doesn't continue if Ulfric wins, and his victory is an outcome the Thalmor don't want. Unlike the Empire, Ulfric isn't interested in capitulating to the demands of the Dominion.

Wrong. Ulfric also knows it

Because the Grey Beards taught him.....

I think Ulfric's tradition is what stands.

Ulfric has made no tradition. He's an upstart usurper, and if he dies it will just reinforce the Grey Beard history. Jurgen Windcaller was once a proud Nord conqueror, similar to Ulfric, until his blasphemous misuse of the Thu'um led to his defeat.

What's strange about your theory is that the Greybeards never tell the Dragonborn that he is not allowed to use his voice during combat...

So what happened?

The dragonborn is an exception to all the rules, by virtue that his very existence/inborn ability is a gift from the Gods.

True that Dragonborn is an exception to all the rules. As you go through all the conversation options with Arngeir , he makes the very same comment.

After reading the Thalmor Dossier: Ulfric Sotrmcloak on any play through I side with the Imperials. To quote just a part;

He was made to believe information obtained during his interrogation was crucial in the capture of the Imperial City (the city had in fact fallen before he had broken), and then allowed to escape. After the war, contact was established and he has proven his worth as an asset.

So at the time Dragonborn shows up he is perhaps a dormant asset, to me it reads he is acting as a spy in some capacity for the Thalmor, or did to an extent.

In my mind it kind of explains or gives a little more insight into his harsh objections to the presence of Elenwen during Season Unending. Or it could be just show on his part to prevent anyone from suspicions of him being or had been a Thalmor spy or at the very least cooperated with them.

Why does everyone seem to skip over the last sentence of that dossier?

Because it's an easy way to vilify Ulfric and his goal of liberating Skyrim from an Empire that capitulated to the Dominion, despite it being a boldfaced lie?

And because nobody seems to understand the meaning of "Asset" in spy language. The Aldmeri Dominion considers Ulfric an asset because his war is essentially diverting resources in the Imperial empire. On top of that, the Empire loses valuable manpower during the war, further weakening their armed forces.

It's brillant really. High elves are very patient people, given their long lifespans, and so they can stave off war a few decades and watch men kill off each other while they provide subtle manipulations that push them in that direction. The lie they planted in Ulfric's head to make him feel guilty in order nudge him in the direction of wanting to prove himself. The secret kidnapping and torture of Talos worshippers. Hell, it wouldn't surprise me if the Thalmor pay people to spread rumors about it to get the Nords riled up.

In the end, a Stormcloak victory is best as it allows a potential alliance of Nords and Redguards in the future, from my perspective. Redguards, having freed themselves from the Thalmor, will look at the Nords as kindred warriors as both races honor strength and prowess in battle. A nord-redguard alliance with great warriors and masters of the way of the Voice is the worst kind of army the Aldmeri Dominion would have to face.

Couple that with the fact there are probably rebel groups within the Dominion itself (think of the Aldmeri Dominion as High Elf Nazis), primarily composed of Khajiit and Bosmer, who are essentially second-class citizens in the Dominion, and you have a perfect storm for the downfall of their Third Reich (ironically, it is the third Aldmeri Dominion in Tamriel's history).

There is alsoa book called the BEar of Markath that talks about Ulfric war crimes. So it's easy to vilify a villian.

The Bear of Markarth was written by an Imperial Scholar and has obvious bias in the text. The author, Arrianus Arius, has an obvious bias against Nords over the Reachmen. Reading his writing was like reading Thomas Payne justify the beheadings of the French Revolution.

You mean the propaganda book that makes claims that are explicitly contradicted by the people from Markarth - like the Reachman Cedran and the pro-Legion Jarl Igmund?
