Fun fact: NVSE's fnv4gb source code doesn't have any trace of nvse awarness...

$ diff -r fnv4gb_nvse/ fnv4gb/
diff -r fnv4gb_nvse/fnv4gb_helper/fnv4gb_helper.cpp fnv4gb/fnv4gb_helper/fnv4gb_helper.cpp

<           	LoadLibrary(TEXT("nvse_steam_loader.dll"));
diff -r fnv4gb_nvse/fnv4gb_helper/fnv4gb_helper.rc fnv4gb/fnv4gb_helper/fnv4gb_helper.rc

EDIT: Ok, I've found in fact it is. Nevermind and sorry

Any chance of this working with windows 8? I'm gonna have to buy either windows 8 or windows 7 when this release preview locks, if there's no chance of this working in 8 for whatever reason then I'll get 7 but if there's a chance this will work I'd rather get 8

Anybody got any idea?

Do not install modable games into the (default UAC protected) Program files (x86) folder. UAC tries to keep you from making changes (mods are changes) to any programs (games are programs) located there. And, as the LAA patch is a change, UAC will block it. :rolleyes:

I install all games into a non UAC protected folder C:\Games. Including Steam games - for steam you install the steam client here C:\Games\Steam - and Steam will use that location. If you have already installed Steam to the UAC protected folder, all is not lost - steam actually makes it easy to move without having to reinstall your games. :thumbsup:

I haven't tried Win8 yet, however Win7 works great with Fallout New Vegas. From what I have read it seems that Microsoft is trying to be more like Apple in making their OS more proprietary and less open.

The 4G patch (LAA) is actually intended for a 64 bit system and doesn't do much for a 32 bit - here is a link to my blog on ram usage. http://s1.zetaboards.../4865172/1/#new

@bben46: Thanks for the reply. As far as I know, Win8 uses some basic UAC to protect metro apps (if you disable UAC via registry key, all metro apps stop working).

Really? that's good enough reason on it's own to stick to 7.
