gigantibyte
Having tried all other tips I could find, my new plan to combat my crashing problem is to reinstall Skyrim and install mods slowly. Maybe only one after a solid hour of gameplay. So I'm going to start a new game, and I don't need my old saves. What's the best way to clean all traces of Skyrim and not remove it from my Steam library? Can I just delete the Skyrim folder contents manually? Michaeljcox24
I just clicked on delete local content, deleted saves in my documents, but kept a screen dump of the NMM window so I could recall what mod was there. worked fine.
gigantibyte
Before going through a complete reinstall, I used the Nexus Mod Manager and deactivated every mod (about 10) except for SkyUI. I then started a new game but was only able to play for 40 minutes before the game crashed to the desktop. I suppose I could now try deactivating SkyUI too and run the game without SKSE, but if SkyUI or SKSE is the reason for my crashes, I don't really have any motivation to play Skyrim. I've updated everything (windows, video drivers, patches, etc.) and disabled my antivirus along with all other unnecessary background programs before playing. My video card was at a comfortable 72 degrees (green zone) at the time of the crash. I'm not sure what else I can try but a complete reinstall at this point. All my crashes happen outdoors if that means anything to anyone. Anyone else on tried a reinstall with no mods to see if it stops the CTDs? woody79
Those guys from STEP know what they're doing, and have provided a lot of guides covering various aspects of Skyrim & Mods.I HIGHLY recommend checking out STEPThe current guide is a little outdated, but new version is being released very soon so be on lookout for that. More to the point on your question check out STEP WikiThis should help get a clean Skyrim again.

I'm hoping that it's just to save time downloading because I have already completely cleared the skyrim folder by using 'delete local content' in Steam, then manually deleting the remaining files.
