Steam vs Disk?

I'm kind of curious here, I've been using a disk to play Oblivion - and to be honest, around my house, discs don't tend to last long. I've been thinking about switching to Steam but I'm a bit hesitant of shelling out another 30$ for the same game I have...still that might be cheaper than having to re-buy a disc and I think Steam has "achievements" or something. If Steam doesn't work with mods I'm not touching it at all, that's a deal breaker. Still, it sounds nice to have achievements and not need a disc...Does anyone know how they match up together?

Can I still mod if I get the steam edition? Will I have to re-install everything or can I just move the folders into Steams Directory or something? Or should I just stick with the disks, since I've already bought it and the disc for shivering isles?

Hi !

I have the steam version !

Prices are :

Oblivion Game of The Year Edition - 19,99$

Oblivion Game of The Year Edition Deluxe - 24,99

Difference between the two versions are : Mehuze´z razor ; Spell Tome Treasure ; Vile Lair ; Fighters Stronghold Expansion and much more (as posted on steam store)

Both versions have : Knights of The Nine and Shivering Isles expansion.

There are no achievments on steam for Oblivion !

Dont know about MODS , cause i dont use any !!

EDIT : Forgot to mention, but i think u can register your game to your steam account, it will lock your CD KEY to your steam account forever. Just dont get a VAC ban, or you will lose all your games.

Steam has a few slight problems with certain types of mods, including OBSE. I use the steam version and have managed to get everything working though, but it does take some extra effort now and again.

The one advantage that it has is that it is already updated when you get it :D

I use the Steam version of the game and as far as I can tell, it has no problems with any mods. I create mods that rely heavily on OBSE and if there were problems, I think I would have noticed long ago. ;)

Cool. I was checking around steam and theirs a thing where it asks for a disc-code, that I guess is a proof of purchase thing? I'm going to try it and see what happens...is their anything you think I should do though before I try it though? Can I just move the folders into my data folder and that's it?
