thariir
Hi. I was modding Fallout New Vegas and i started to feel pretty confidence with my progress after 20 or 30 mods. My previous run with Skyrim ended up in a bit of a mess due to me being as skilled as a wet ferret in how to mod the right way. My question is regarding modding Skyrim when you already have a modded game such as New Vegas installed. Info i stumbled upon said you really should uninstall FOMM if you are about to mod Skyrim with NMM, because if you kept them both, they would argue with them self's and end up in problems. Question 1: Can i keep both games installed with mods?Question 2: Can i in a safe way add ALL my mods to Skyrim through NMM only and not be forced to use several programs?Question 3: Is BOSS for Skyrim what FNVEdit is for New Vegas? I just want to be sure i can fix any problems i encounter as easy as with FNVEdit if possible and BOSS is mentioned a lot. Haven´t used it my self more than to "try" it but i am open to suggestions. Sorry if these or upcoming questions might seem a bit "doh" but i am new to this and really keen on learning all i need to know so i can start modding my self. Thank you and have a lovely day. Yes - But modding is very time consuming for both games.. Just something simple like making a house can take hours, sometimes days depending if you're making your own textures and meshes.2. More than likely - I personally don't use NMM (It hasn't been super recommended to me), I prefer the manual installs so i can use whichever i choose. Sometimes, i break stuff though :)3. If you're refering to the "Construction Set" - Creation Kit for Skyrim and The "Garden of Eden Creation Kit (GECK)" for FNV. I don't know what BOSS or FNVEDIT is :P I'm not a modder, as I don't have the time.
Rabbit1251
I have Fallout New Vegas heavily modded using Fallout Mod Manager and Skyrim moderately modded using the Nexus Mod Manager. It's been a while since I've played New Vegas so I just fired it up and could get into the game with no trouble so they will play well together. I use the Nexus Mod Manager and manual installation for all of my Skyrim mods. Works fine. However, I must confess that I'm using an older version of the Mod Manager. BOSS is used to manage your mod load order in Skyrim. I really don't know haw it relates to FNVEdit as I've never used that utility. I hope that this helps. Really looking forward to it though...but for that i think i will only have one game installed for the best outcome. Tip for you if you mod and sometimes break things ;)Try Nexus. If you break something it´s just a matter of clicking uninstall and you are done. Doesn't leave any left over files or anything and is super easy to use. Rabbit Thank you for that.I started modding Skyrim yesterday again and it´s up to just under 10 mods. Works flawless so far and i only use Nexus. Will be keeping FOMM installed and hope it keeps working =) FNVEdit is "basically" a program that scans your installed mods load-order. If you for example forgot to install a esp or placed a mod badly in the load-order, this will let you know where the error is and you can fix it fast and easy. If you want to learn more, check out Gophers video about it here. http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/43195
