gutlessVADER Posted August 9, 2012 Share Posted August 9, 2012 So I am crashing very frequently, and it sucks. I was thinking it might be because a few mods need to be updated for 1.7, but hopefully someone can have a look at my load order and point out a problem. My savegame is only 7MB, so it's not savegame bloating. I'm getting a solid 60 fps all the time, and Skyrim CTD's with no warning. 00 Skyrim.esm 01 Update.esm 02 BlackTowerArmory.esm 03 JSwords.esm 04 ClimatesOfTamriel.esm 05 ApachiiHair.esm 06 HighResTexturePack01.esp 07 HighResTexturePack02.esp 08 Shadow Striping Fix.esp 09 Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp [Version 1.1] 0A ClimatesOfTamriel-Dungeons&Interiors.esp 0B ClimatesOfTamriel-VanillaNights-Lvl-3.esp 0C StaticMeshImprovementMod.esp 0D dragonsoulstoperks.esp 0E DSpSoB.esp 0F UnlimitedBookshelves.esp 10 Auto Unequip Arrows.esp 11 BlackSacramentArmor.esp 12 BlackSacramentDBreplacer.esp 13 Cloaks.esp 14 isilNarsil.esp 15 JSwordsDistributionBalancePlugin.esp 16 Magicka Sabers.esp 17 Masters of Death - Sicarius Armor (Standalone).esp 18 Nicoroshi Creations.esp [Version 1.2] 19 PowerOfTheGods.esp 1A SamuraiArmor.esp 1B BlackTowerUpdate.esp 1C Acquisitive Soul Gems.esp 1D Better Dynamic Snow.esp 1E Lush Grass.esp 1F posesivecorpses.esp ++ SameWalkRunSpeedsLite.esp 20 SkyTEST-RealisticAnimals&Predators.esp 21 Spells Cast Light.esp 22 torches for realistic lighting.esp 23 SkyrimSpeeds.esp 24 DeadlySpellImpacts.esp 25 The Dance of Death.esp 26 Crimson Tide - Blood.esp 27 UFO - Ultimate Follower Overhaul.esp 28 Alternate Start - Live Another Life.esp [Version 2.1.1] 29 WATER.esp 2A WATER - Get Wet.esp 2B Bashed Patch, 0.esp 2C EzEWorldMap.esp Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
SoulLimit Posted August 9, 2012 Share Posted August 9, 2012 If you are worried about the load order, why not try Downloading BOSS and using that to sort out your load order? - http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/6 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
gutlessVADER Posted August 9, 2012 Author Share Posted August 9, 2012 I've been modding Elder Scrolls games since Morrowind and have had BOSS since it was first introduced for Oblivion. The load order you're looking at is BOSSed. What I'm worried about are mods that may be unstable or conflict with each other that I haven't heard about. Celestros Posted August 9, 2012 Share Posted August 9, 2012 Lots of texture enhancers? I don't know what happened with either the 1.7 patch or Dawnguard, but I was no longer able to run the extensive texture replacements I once could. I would get CTD's/lag frequently. In particular, the base textures used by Texture Pack Combiner. If that isn't the issue (you said your FPS isn't affected) then check your papyrus log after having a CTD. under Skyrim.ini, edit the following: bEnableLogging=1, bEnableTrace=1, bLoadDebugInformation=1. Check the associated files in the Log folder that are created for any script abnormalities (scripts repeating/failing many times, a particular script that appears to be causing the crash, ect). One thing I have noticed is the DLC tends to run background scripts oddly frequently... Hopefully the people over at USKP add Dawnguard support (UDGP? :P). Although I don't think those would cause a crash in themselves, just lag other scripts. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
gutlessVADER Posted August 9, 2012 Author Share Posted August 9, 2012 (edited) I don't have Dawnguard, but it could very well be my many texture replacers. I recently spent $420 on a new GPU and went to town on Skyrim :tongue: I'll go wait for a crash now. EDIT: Just played for two hours, travelling all over the place, and it didn't crash. The ONE time I want it to, and it plays flawlessly. It'll get me when I'm least expecting it. Edited August 9, 2012 by gutlessVADER Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
xNodus Posted August 10, 2012 Share Posted August 10, 2012 Way to kick a man when he's down, Skyrim :huh: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
gsmanners Posted August 10, 2012 Share Posted August 10, 2012 Hmm... Yes. The mysteriously vanishing CTD. I've had that one. You reboot your computer and it mysteriously goes away. It's funny, how many things can cause this game to crash. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
gutlessVADER Posted August 10, 2012 Author Share Posted August 10, 2012 Just crashed and my Logs folder is empty. I'll try removing Skyrim HD. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
bben46 Posted August 10, 2012 Share Posted August 10, 2012 One mysterious cause of CTDs is the forgotten background process that steals CPU cycles or calls home. If you had a certain program running, such as a VOIP,Skype, IM or something else that constantly polls the internet. It can steal focus long enough for the game to get out of sync and CTD. Other background processes - a program that is trying to update itself or checking for updates. An auto defrag that starts any time the HD gets a certain amount of fragmented, An open browser or email program in the background being updated, Or anything that can steal cpu cycles - most of the time the game can recover but every once in a while the background program will take just a little too long to return control to the game. And the one that drove me nuts a few years ago - at exactly 10 minutes, Oblivion would freeze for a few seconds, then CTD. I traced it to an HP printer update that called home precisely every 10 minutes. However, the site it was trying to contact had been changed by HP so it was unable to connect. It even tried to call when I was off line. And of course, when I looked, it showed no activity. :wallbash: I finally caught it with a new firewall program that logged internet access attempts and showed what program initiated the attempt, whether it was successful or not and how long it was connected. gutlessVADER Posted August 10, 2012 Author Share Posted August 10, 2012 Wow, I've never heard of that before. I'll see if I can do anything about it, but I've already gone through all of the programs Windows loads on boot-up and disabled the ones I don't need, but my antivirus could be doing something. I haven't crashed yet without Skyrim HD, but for all I know Skyrim crashes because I sneezed last Tuesday. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
