Merged patch ignores weapons?

As it says on the tin. Could use some help here. Was able to filter my weapons by weapon type (energy weapons), but when I try to create a merged patch, it doesn't create a patch tying all of my weapons together. Can anyone help with this or point me to some tool that will merge the filtered weapons?

I would open all of the mods in FO3Edit, select the weapons I want to be in the patch, and right-click on each one selecting "Copy as override into..." a new ESP file.

 

To do the same thing in the GECK, open all of the mods with none set as the active one, and then edit each weapon in some way so it gets put into the new ESP and then save it all as a new ESP. You will need the new GECK extender to be able to open other ESPs as masters of a new ESP.
