gettodeechoppaX4
Hello everyone! so I've installed Fallout New Vegas today on my laptop right ( It's running on Windows 10 btw ), anyway I'm having a small problem. For some reason I am not able to type in any console commands, whenever I press the button to bring up the console commands nothing happens, my game doesn't stop or anything like it's suppose to whenever you try to type in console commands so is there a little easy fix of some sort I can do? dubiousintent
The default key assignment for the console is the "tilde" key ("~") on the US keyboard. If you are using a different keyboard layout or other "regional" language "codepage" it might be different. Many laptops also require the use of special "function" keys to generate the correct key scancode because they use a reduced number of keys. So, we need much more detail to be able to provide an answer. -Dubious-
JimboUK
Try disabling any infrared devices you have via the device manager and unplugging any controllers.

dubiousintent
Re: "special function keys" on laptops. It really depends upon the manufacturer. I have seen laptops with up to four different character "scancodes" generated by a single key {common example is the "< 9( >" key}, depending upon which "modifier key" (such as the "<Shift>", "<Ctrl>", "<Alt>", "<Windows symbol>", or a special "<Fn>" key or combination thereof) is also pressed at the same time. Such keys often use particular colors on each of the "modifier" keys and the corresponding character symbol on the keyboard to indicate the needed combination. This should be explained in your "owner's manual / user guide" if applicable. The primary purpose is to require fewer physical keys to generate the same number of "scancodes". "PS/2" is a older hardware connector specification, used to enable multiple manufacturer "accessory" devices (such as a keyboard, mouse, gamepad, or other "input") that can all connect to the same computer "port" connection. As such, many "devices" using that same connector type can be expected to show up in the device manager labelled that way, though there is typically only one such "port" on a computer. You should find a manufacturer label on the bottom of (or possibly inside the battery compartment of a portable) device which spells out who made it and it's "model" as well as a unique "serial number" assigned to that particular device. With a "laptop", it's all "integrated" into a single shell and considered to be by the same manufacturer even if different components come from different sources. So, if a laptop is "manufactured" (typically it's just "assembled" from independently manufactured specialty source components) by "Hewlett-Packard", then all integrated components are the responsibility of HP and you would look on their web site for any documentation related to any component. Please see the "Issue - Console -" entries, as well as the 'Issue - Have to remap some essential default key assignments', and the 'Issue - How to determine what keystrokes are being passed' entries under the 'Solutions to Control problems' section of the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" article. -Dubious-

Whenever I go to press the Tilde Key it still won't do nothing however if I hold the Tilde Key down I can't move my character so I don't know if that helps any but, instead of the game freezing like it should though it still goes and that's all that happens, when I release the Tilde key I can go back to moving my character.
