dima1454
Hello, I'm new to this site and also new to using skyrim mods. I'd like to be pointed to the mods that help fixing the problems skyrim has (like the console orientated interface and the obnoxious crafting system) and also mods that enhance the experience of the vanilla gameplay.I'd do that myself but I cant find those mods buried under the crapton of armor, weapon and just small uninteresting mods...In my opinion people should release collections of those smaller mods in packs. Also it would be nice if you gave me some general guidelines on how to install those mods and not make the game break (something that happened to a friend of mine) Thanks, I hope I don't break any rules the forum has with this thread :) Edited August 10, 2012 by dima1454
Athelos
I am working on a said "pack" at this very moment (Comprehensive Community Enhancement Mod) As per your requests, these four mods will fix most of the games known issues as well as address the flimsy crafting/smithing system. Complete Crafting OverhaulSmithing Perks OverhaulUnnofficial Skyrim PatchWeapons & Armor Fixes You should attempt installing them with the Nexus Mod Manager. for streamlined and ease-of-access installs without any problems. If however the NMM is having issues (which it has been lately due to the huge server load from the Dawnguard release), then download the file manually and choose "Add From File" in the Mod Manager instead. Feel free to shoot me a Personal Message if there are any other mods you might be interested in or looking for. Thank you very much man!I'm looking for more mods like the "Complete Crafting Overhaul" for instance a mod that makes financial management in skyrim more interesting (you hardly ever need to waste money in the game which makes it pretty useless and you end up only spending it on houses) and maybe some mod for the shitty potion mechanics this game has (stack hp pots = win), for example creating a cooldown timer for certain potions...Also I'd like a mod that gives the player more reason to cook food
Athelos
I'm with you on that. A few of my own ideas for my mods I will release with the CCEM (or possibly before) is merc's like Jenassa charging you weekly, an *ACTUAL* store after you marry someone, that you have to upgrade, maintain, hire people, procure goods (either purchased or dungeon delving) and pay wages (kinda like oblivions store mod), as far as food; there have been "survival" mods for Oblivion, FO3 and FNV which required you eat food, sleep and drink water, which wouldn't be too incredibly hard to script into skyrim (with our without SKSE im not sure). I've also looked at the possibilty of jobs/labor (similar to working the mills / mines), paying dues/levies/taxes. Athelos
Some are crappy, some are good, and some quite creative. Retex in my opinion are easy enough to do.Skimpy mods are good, but could do with more creativity.and mods that create whole new armor are epic! If you have the patience for it, browse via catagories and narrow by tags, you might find something you like. Maybe even an economics mod or survival mod of some sort. DwemerHunter
One of the mods I like which I think improves gameplay is UFO (Ultimate Follower overhaul) It makes the follower system so much better, as you can now have more than one at a time, and you can make them train etc.
IsharaMeradin
Damn, skyrim has so much potential for cool mods but people keep making those crappy armor mods insteadYou've only scratched the surface then. On any page of the Nexus (not the forum), hover your mouse over the little circle with a down arrow next to the word Files, a drop menu should appear, select Categories. You'll see that there are lots of mods in different categories. Armor, houses and weapons might be the largest groups but that just means that people have varied tastes and so do something for themselves cause others haven't done it yet. there are several survival mods out there already. Usually they are found in the "Gameplay effects and changes" category as far as the economy, might want to check out Economics of Skyrim. You can't just sell stuff off to buy something really cool on your first trip to Whiterun any more. Prices are high and merchants buy really low. It makes going out and hunting for hides/pelts to get leather more practical. It makes going out finding ore veins to mine to get the ore to make the ingots you need more practical as the prices are really high otherwise especially with the regional settings where in some cities you may not find certain items and if you do they'd be thru the roof. Believe it or not Breezehome is cheaper than most weapons, especially the enchanted ones. Oh and General merchants they sell goods that the people living in the city might need. they don't sell stuff that only the Dragonborn would want.
