Making Custom Follower

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am need of help.

I am trying to make my first mod ever by creating a custom follower.

Steps I have done thus far:

Created the physical character + values (he is in my game).

Exported a face from racemenu to be used as the face for my custom follower (it is under sculpt export face).

Now... I have no clue what to do. People keep saying get npc nif merge, but the author said that isn't compatible with SSE. I also have no photoshop tool to use with the .dds file.

As I understand it, the easiest way to do it is with the following steps:

1. Use Nif Optimiser on the .nif file you got from racemenu export with the head parts and LE boxes checked to convert it back to LE format.

2. Follow one of the many other tutorials on how to use the (new) creation kit and nif merge for old skyrim le to merge your nif from racemenu with the nif from the creation kit.

3. Use nif optimizer to port the new merged nif back to SE, with the headparts box checked of course

4 Download and use gimp (it's a free image editor) following one of the many many tutorials on getting your .dds file from racemenu up and running in the right format.

Once you've done those steps, the rest is the same as it was for Skyrim LE, and there are tons of tutorials on that.
