WardenMage
Can anyone advise how, if it's even possible, to port Oghrens hair from DAO to a DAI compatible mod (for PC hair)? In DAO, I often use the mod that makes Oghren's hair-style available to player char (without the sideburns and beard). DAI has a notorious lack of decent male hairstyles, especially short hair. So I really, really want to somehow get that Oghren style modded into DAI, but I can't find how to do this. I've seen various resources and tutorials for hair mods with custom models and for porting hair from DAI to DAO, but not the other way. The DAO mod has 2 files (per race) - '.mmh' and '.msh'. Can the MSH be converted somehow to the OBJ filetype/format I see in other DAI hair mods? Or is the only way to recreate it from scratch in 3ds? I not capable enough with 3ds or blender to accomplish that, and so am hoping the existing model from either the DAO mod or source file (dm_har_ogra_0) could be somehow converted and/or 'packaged' for DAI. Any thoughts?? In Toolkit: On PC in game:
honeywhite
Hair modding is extremely limited, so I'm afraid ports just aren't possible (at least, not to my knowledge). You can only successfully mod hair meshes by manipulating the existing vertices of a vanilla DA:I mesh (which means you can't add or remove anything). Even if you tried to add parts of an Origins mesh to an existing Inquisition mesh and made it so that your final mesh still has the same vertex count as the vanilla Inquisition mesh (hope I'm making sense :ninja: ), the mesh would, for some reason, look completely messed up once imported into the Mod Maker. Basically, the only way to do this would be to edit an existing DA:I mesh to try and get it to look like Oghren's hair. WardenMage
Ah, I'd seen something once that implied a constraint like that, but only from one source, so was hoping it wasn't the case (the vertex count stuff). So, for all of the hair mods that exist (granted there aren't a ton of them) - they all only include styles matching vertex count of of a vanilla style? I guess I'll take a stab at it, though I'm just learning 3ds, so not sure how far I'll get with it. I did finally get the MSH converted to OBJ in blender, so am hoping that'll give me the reference needed to make an attempt. Anyway, thanks for the response and information!
