ratbloke
Please be advised this is a suggestion to place large files via U-torrent it would save download time. Thank you for your support.
Lutine
A decent idea, but I don't see it happening.
DrakeTheDragon
As a suggestion to mod authors themselves, why not. I placed a mod of mine on another file host and linked to it in the "mirrors" tab, split into multiple pieces even, because a user with dial-up was unable to download it. As something the site does automatically for every mod above a certain size though I, too, am rather skeptical it'll happen.
McclaudEagle
I doubt automatic uploading to uTorrent from the Nexus is ever going to happen, the Nexus would be in breach of copyright laws and its own ToS if it did.
narphous
Not necessarily. There are torrent networks out there that require user/pass to access. Simply using your nexus user/pass to access such a torrent network that was operated by the nexus admins would prevent the issue of uploading to other sites as well as the currently prohibition does now. It would also drop the bandwidth requirements for the site and the accompanying server load. The downsides are that anyone on that torrent would get max bandwidth, and it would remove one of the incentives for purchasing a subscription from nexus. It would also require users to keep their torrent client running all the time. If they did decide to go this way, then building torrent support into nnm, etc., would be the logical way to go. That could require you to be logged into the nexus servers to access the .torrent files. And it might be possible to automatically label anyone on a free login to be marked as a leecher, thus reducing the bandwidth for downloading available to them. In any case, it's an interesting idea, and probably worth exploring before just dismissing out of hand. Certainly, we've seen clearly that the nexus servers aren't up to handling sudden large influxes of users. And don't take that as a knock on the nexus admins. Dawnguard was a basically a giant DOS against the servers.

Unless the author of the mod clearly states that they do not care if the file is uploaded to another site, the Nexus would be in breach of copyright laws. If a mod author states they do not wish their mod to be uploaded to another site, that wish becomes law.
Nephenee13
Please be advised this is a suggestion to place large files via U-torrent it would save download time. Thank you for your support. First of all, uTorrent is a torrent client, you can't "put files" on it. What you are actually suggesting is to create a Torrent Tracker for the nexus, which people could use to download the files hosted on it. Its not an impossibility, but whether or not it would actually speed up downloads is debatable. Unless the author of the mod clearly states that they do not care if the file is uploaded to another site, the Nexus would be in breach of copyright laws. If a mod author states they do not wish their mod to be uploaded to another site, that wish becomes law. No, their suggestion (once restructured into something resembling how the system actually works) would not require uploading the files anywhere but Nexus. This is distributing via a private torrent network that is part of the nexus network. In other words, you click a link, and instead of downloading from a web server owned by nexus, you download from a torrent network owned by nexus. JimboUK
It's quite a good idea, it would take the load off the servers a little.
haganekw
If author allows his/her mod to be distributed outside Nexus, they could upload in cloud storage sites such as Google Drive or Dropbox, and share the link for that mod to download. I've been using them for quite a long time and downloads are always reliable; they don't cap upload speeds or download speeds at all. If a mod consists of multiple developers they can used shared folders which allow several people to work together on the same projects.
