lynix112
Basically I see people all the time exclaiming that using the console is cheating. I agree with this sentiment in most cases (except when it's needed to overcome a bug), but the thing is most of the people I know who exclaim this use mods that essentially do the same thing just instead of typing something like 'player.addperk XXXXXX' they pick up a book or learn it from an NPC. The question is simple, is using a mod to bypass using a console command still cheating? Edited August 12, 2012 by lynix112
FrankFamily
well i think that everybody should do what they want with their game, so if u want just do it. Another thing is that "cheating" is confusing, because what do u consider cheating, some people think that if the game lets u do it, it's not cheating (in this case console won't be a cheat) other think that console is a cheat, but if console is a cheat, mostly any mod is cheat because they modify the game... "is using a mod to bypass using a console command still cheating?" mmm if the mod uses a function that does the same as a console command (script cannot run console commands) it will be the same as using the console command itself, so cheating. Personally i do what i want, if i want to buy something and i need 25 gold i add it via console (only if it's just a bit), sometimes i use coc for commodity... some may consider that i cheat, but i bought the game to enjoy and nobody is going to tell me what to do
IgnacyOrder
Hmmm using codes for items or being unkillable is cheating. But if you use console commands to fix bugs in quests which dont apear and they should then they more fixers than cheating. Hmmmmmmm but I made mod which is by some consider as cheat since it spawns guards to fortify forts but I use it for fun and my RPG experiance wchih was lacking... Hmmm Im not sure how to explain I hate cheating. I get mods to make my game hard as hell. But I found that its stupid that if I get to clear a fort of bandits and no boddy from army wont even take it even thou it would be great for them to have a fort instead of few tents. So I spawn soldiers to fority fort until they die in battle. I dont consider it as cheat but some realism in game XD Sorry if I sound strange. I just dint know how to explain it As for mods to make game harder they should make more of those. Skyrim on Master is like Oblivion on less than even avarange
bben46
It's a single player game - Who do you think you are cheating? Play the game the way you want, not the way someone else thinks you should play. If you enjoy playing with a sword of instant kill and armor of impenetrability - go for it. If you like the risk of fighting off a gang of bandits with an apprentice level fire ball spell and no armor at all, then go for that. (just be sure to have a resent save if you do)
RebelOConner
sometimes, to use console is required.recently, as i wanted to obtain the werewolf perk achievement, i was bloqued by spider webs in werewolf form, so i couldn't cut nor burn them. so instead of waiting 24H ingame, i prefer to use TCL to pass through.and i don't think it's cheating.
