mattlittlej
Hohkay, so a few weeks ago I built a new PC and everything has been running smooth as butter on it.... Except Skyrim and LA Noire, and I already know what's wrong with the latter. So here's what's happening. I updated to the most recent version and after 2 or 3 minutes it CTDs. Every time. I disabled all my mods and it still CTDs. I uninstall the local files and it still CTDs after reinstalling. I even went to the extreme and wiped Steam, all my data (including the MyDocs and System files), mods, etc. reinstalled everything from the ground up without the mods, and it's still crashing. I tried running in compatibility mode, changed the audio settings, updated all my drivers, flashed my MOBO, sacrificed a goat, and nothing has worked so far. It ran fine on my old laptop and the only difference was the processor (Core 2 Duo vs i5 Ivy Bridge). BTW, specs are... Asus P8Z77-V LK MOBOIntel i5-3750K OC'd to 4.2 GHz8 gigs Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600 memoryMSI Twin Frozr II GTX 560 Ti (2 gigs video RAM, factory OC'd to 900 MHz)Realtek 8.1 audio (down to 24-bit at 44.1 Hz)Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM, 6 mb cache 1 TB HDD4 intake fans, 3 exhaust fans, Corsair H100 water cooler CPU temps idle around 30C and the GPU idles around 30. Neither have broken 50C, even under heavy load. If anyone has any insight it would be greatly appreciated. I'd hate to have spent this much on a gaming computer to not play one of my favorite games on it.
Georgiegril
So I imagine you have, but have you checked the running temps on your GPU and CPU? Cause thats the first thing that comes to my mind when the CTD is time-related.Especially when overclocking is involved.

GPU usage percent, however, was at 99%. Edited August 13, 2012 by mattlittlej
Georgiegril
Well my GPU usage is that high all the time, but it doesn't make me crash, and if it did I don't imagine it would cause a total shutdown. Have you tried changing the clocks just to see if it helps, also making sure the clocks and the voltage are all playing nice? Have you tried to download your drivers using Windows or the steam driver update? If so, it could be a problem with that. Try reading this to see if you have it all square. Another thought maybe check/reset BIOS to default values? (if they are not already)The other thought, maybe a bad PSU? Also, have you tried disabling SLI to see if that makes a difference? Some people have had issues with it. Other than that, I'm out of ideas at the moment, it's late here... Congrats about your new computer, it sounds awesome I am envious! and sorry to hear about the goat.

I don't have SLI so that isn't an issue. Did a test on the PSU and it's normal. And the goat had it coming  Thanks for the suggestions!
