rmm200
OK - this is very Fallout 3 specific.I checked my Fallout.ini - and my file did not have the Vortex reference shown by Augusta in her last 4 lines.I went into Vortex / Fallout 3 / Settings and found BSA Redirection under Workarounds.I turned that on - and Vortex updated Fallout.ini, Fallout.ini.baked, FalloutPrefs.ini, FalloutPrefs.ini.baked, FalloutPrefs.ini.base, and Fallout.ini.base.Now my ini file matches Augusta's.Conclusion: For Fallout 3, Vortex needs to modify your ini files. Keep them RW.Also: Set BSA Redirection in Vortex if and only if you do not use another Archive Invalidation mod.General note: A lot of games have game specific "features" in Vortex. These are implemented in the game extension. Settings is a good place to check for them.
rmm200
Second note: Any modifications Vortex makes to game files are a very valid topic for this forum. Have at it.
Tannin42
Vortex needs to write to the ini files to provide functionality like archive invalidation, profile-local save games and so on.read-only means the file can't be written to. So yes, the ini has to be writable for Vortex to function correctly.
