weird lag issue

i've been experiencing some odd issues recently, maybe related to dawnguard and/or the 1.7 update.

Sound effect delays: for example, the sneak attack sound plays a few seconds after the blade hits

Arrow delays: I draw the bow or aim the crossbow, then release, but the arrow doesn't leave the bow until a few seconds later.

conversation lag: conversations often cannot progress because the relevant voice file will not play (similar to the old esbern bug). most recently happened with "the whispering door" mephala quest

Werewolf skill tree lag: pressing the character menu button in werewolf form doesn't always work, instead of the skill tree i get a black screen.

While in human form, character menu works as normal.

The interesting thing is, if i shift+tab in and out of the steam overlay, it cures the delays/causes the correct sound to play, and lets the werewolf tree load, but it's not long before it happens again.

I'm running on a phenom 1090t, hd6870 and samsung SSD if that has any relevance

mod list attached

HArd to tell from your pic what your load order looks like, but if you haven't, download BOSS and run it to get your load order optimized. That alone could cause the problem.

If you already have done that, you might want to check all of your game settings/driver settings/ and .ini files-- any time there's an update, steam will revert to their defaults, which may not be optimal for you. For example, it will always toggle FXAA on for me....

I use BOSS every time i install a new mod, so i figure my load order is good.

Drivers are 12.7 betas, so maybe the fault lies there.

The increased performance is huge compared to 12.6 drivers, so i'm torn about reverting :rolleyes:

My ini files are basically default ultra setting with shadow resolution lowered, AA set to performance rather than quality in vision engine/CCC

Other suspects are the unofficial patch not being 1.7 friendly, I'm going to disable it and play for a while to see how it goes.

I'm now 99% certain i fixed it.

One mod i forgot to mention (i forgot i had it installed) was "Awesome Shader Suite Overhauled", a basic ENB mod.

The enb.ini has the following settings:

WaitBusyRenderer=false

EnableFPSLimit=true

FPSLimit=60

Playing with the fpslimit seems to have cured my issues. 2 hours of playtime with no arrow or sound lags
