You can download the Decorator Assistant mod that lets you place items in a certain position and then lock them in place. I use it to hang swords on walls or prop them up in corners. If you lock the items in your cases they will stay even if an NPC, say a companion, has the annoying habit of opening all cases and knocking the items out.
