DeathWarrior
I've been trying to make custom crossbows for Dawnguard. Everything works fine with the exception that they disappear after being dropped. I know for sure that I have both the 1st person and world models because otherwise I wouldn't see my character holding the weapon in 1st and 3rd person view. It's not a new model either, just a reskin. Anyone else encounter this and/or know how to fix it? Edited August 15, 2012 by DeathWarrior
Perraine
Have you created all the correct entries in the CK? You'll need all of these to get it to work 1stperson<weaponname> (STAT)RecipeWeapon<weapnname> (COBJ)TemperWeapon<weapnname> (COBJ)Weaponname (WEAP) Create/modify the 1stperson (STAT) first, selecting the correct "ground" model (usually <weapon_gnd.nif> or similar) if your using a customized mesh ...The actual weapon (WEAP) item second, making sure to select the correct <weapon.nif> for the world model and the correct (previously created) 1stperson item ...Then the finalize the 2 recipes ... Sounds like their is an error in step 1 or 2 with your custom crossbow.
DeathWarrior
After investigating this more, I find that they do actually drop on the ground. But they drop several feet away instead of in front of the player character like they're supposed to. Sometimes, depending on where the player character drops them, they end up dropping in the void/outer area of the map where I need to use TCL to get to them. Anyone know how to fix this? Perraine
A Havok and/or "Collision" issue maybe? Not really up on 3D modelling, so not sure, but that's what it sounds like ...
skysan4298
@DeathWarriorI'm having the same issue when I dropped a custom weapon I modded, so have you figure out why a custom weapon would behaved this when dropped? UPDATE: The issue with me was the NifSkope software's "Auto Sanitize before save" option being on. This option when on, it changed the mesh node order and settings. My modded bow is working correctly now with that option off. Edited January 12, 2013 by skysan4298
teq99
@skysan4298Thanks for taking the trouble to post the solution to this issue. I had the exact same problem & it was driving me crazy. Fixed it now thanks to you. Cheers!
foxlight713
@skysan4298Hopefuly this will help me with my mod of making stand alone retextured Dragonborn DLC Nordic Weapons. Every weapon works just fine for the exeption of the Bow which is having the same issiues as the OP.

Shadeybladey
I'll add my thanks and try that. I made a bunch of weapons I can craft and everything works fine except that when I dropped the bows on the ground, they just vanish. All melee weapons drop on the ground with a satisfying KLUNK! and roll around, bows just vanish into the Aether. I half-fixed it a while ago by making an extra mesh, but then the string would not draw!Cheers!
