Abaddon00
I've come across something weird possibly its a glitch or maybe something completely there on purpose. Deadric armor is suppose to be the strongest vanilla armor in game. My question is that I recently got Dawnguard and got a full set of heavy armor. The thing that throws me off is that somehow I am able to temper the heavy dawnguard armor far higher compared to the Deadric armor... is this normal or perhaps a bug i have come across. The difference between the 2's armor ratings is somewhere i suppose 2 or 3 times the difference in armor rating. thanks for any replies or suggestions
Deleted3507349User
Are you using Weapons And Armor Fixes and/or it's two companion mods, Complete Crafting Overhaul and Smithing Perks Overhaul? All three need to be updated for 1.7 and Dawnguard.
Abaddon00
Are you using Weapons And Armor Fixes and/or it's two companion mods, Complete Crafting Overhaul and Smithing Perks Overhaul? All three need to be updated for 1.7 and Dawnguard. I Don't use those ones but I do use ACE which does rework the smithing perks... I also forgot to mention that I am using enchants to further the smithing skill which can create crazy moments of outrageous armor buffs Not sure if this helps answer your questions
xlcr
Abaddon00, hi, Dawnguard Heavy Armor is classified as specialty gear unlike regular Daedric heavy armor; more importantly, Dawnguard Heavy Armor benefits from the 'Advanced Armors' perk which doubles the improvement when tempering.Anyway, this (and those mods/enchants you're running) are probably why you're seeing unusually high (game breaking) ratings when smithing/tempering, just leave it alone or only temper it slightly higher, don't overpower the stuff or you'll just ruin your game lol.just say'n. http://images.uesp.net/thumb/c/c3/SR-item-Dawnguard_Heavy_Armor_Male_01.jpg/600px-SR-item-Dawnguard_Heavy_Armor_Male_01.jpg http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Dawnguard_Heavy_Armorhttp://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Advanced_Armors
Abaddon00
Oh, I see what you mean Xlcr. Thanks for pointing that out to me... well either way the armor i just tempered is pretty much already game breaking... last time i looked at it... the armor rating when wearing all of it was somewhere around 25000 to 30000. Once again... thank you for your replies and pointing out the right information
Deleted3507349User
The same thing happens with vampire Armor as well. With the mods I listed above, at legendary status it beats Dragonscale by about 30 points. Considering I'm wearing light armor and at level 42 it's not game-breakingly overpowered...but it ain't right. So I uninstalled those mods pending updates and use vanilla. nathanj
I would highly recommend that you just avoid upgrading weapons or armor period. It was probably the single stupidest design decision on Bethesda part in the entire game. First of all the game is easy enough without improving the gear. Secondly, no one else has it. I don't mind enchanting because I see enchanted weapons and jewelry all over the place. But you NEVER come across any gear that has been upgraded. Even the smiths won't sell it or temper it for you for a price. This makes no in game sense whatsoever and the first modder or group of modders that figures out how to replace the awful smithing system and bring back repair (albeit better than Oblivion/Morrowinds hammer system) will be my new god and I will build a church (legos or lincoln logs) in their honor. :) What really irks me is that they have anvils, sharpening stones etc. all over the place. What would be more perfect than requiring that you repair your gear at a work station like Dead Island does. Similar to how you have to use an alchemy table to make potions or an enchanting table to enchant gear.
Perraine
^ Once again, Bugthesda went backwards from what we had in FO:NV ... The item repair and item add-on (scopes, silencers, etc.) system was quite good in that I thought ... But we either have an 11/11/11 issue AGAIN! ... Or it's a "Can't fit it on an xBox disc so dump it" issue ... AGAIN!
