ok so here is the idea: when you do the quest "season unending" you get the 2 Waring factions to sit together and try to have a peace talk. you know this. the mod would add some dialog to make the war end then and there. for example once you kick elewin out, you can show ulfric the dossier thing about him,and explain how he is being used and the thalmor want the war to keep going, and that the empire and stormcloaks need to stop fighting each other and fight the real enemy:the thalmor.also tell him that if they team up and beat the thalmor, talos worship wont need to be banned cause the white gold concordant wont be needed anymore. (also maybe add a patch for dark brotherhood for good guys cause that adds some good "fuel for the fire" and a patch for "the second great war") then once the player finishes the speech ulfric and tullis agree to join forces to fight the thalmor. the war then ends and no jarls change, you can become thane and buy the house in windhelm and you can enter that jagged crown place without needing to be on a side.

I believe Season Unending, will be how the civil war officially comes to an end. Think about it for a moment. Sometime during or shortly after you defeat Alduin, the Emperor will have arranged his own assassination. It doesn't matter if you kill him or not. He is going to make sure he dies one way or another. When that happens, Tullius will have to accept the rebellion settled and send the troops back to Cyrodiil.

The Thalmor will lose interest in Skyrim, considering it a failed mission. They also will turn their attention towards Cyrodiil and learn how they can take advantage of this situation.

Ulfric gets Markarth out of the deal and goes back to managing his city. The moot will take place. But, believe both sides will agree that the Dragonborn should be High King. I think Ulfric will admit that he doesn't believe he's fit to be High King. Elisif will also admit, that she doesn't want the responsibility. They all agree that the Dragonborn is the best chance to unite Skyrim, to rebuild and prepare Skyrim for the next AD attack. But, Skyrim is still politically fractured after the civil war. Part of Skyrim is still allied with the Empire and part of Skyrim remains independent.

I don't think players should stress over the civil war as much as they have been. It wouldn't be a role playing game, if we didn't have choices to make. There is no wrong or right choice. It really depends on you and how you want to experience your play throughs. Give yourself a chance to explore both sides.

Maybe you're a high elf outcast who hates the AD and the Thalmor more then the Stormcloaks. So, you decide to join their rebellion and share all your knowledge that might help take them down.

You could be a Khajiit who wants to challenge themselves. You want to see if you can get in good with Ulfric or Tullius, for thieving and skooma dealing purposes.

Maybe you're an argonian who was hatched on the Windhelm docks, who wants to get in good with the Sunset Empire. So, you decide to go to Solitude. You end up getting recruited into the civil war, because you needed the money and wanted to earn a good reputation with the Empire, for future business and for argonian kind. Once you make a bit of a name for yourself, you start your own business, where you hire other argonians. Which provides better alternatives then working on the Windhelm docks.

As for the RP-element you might be right.. I´m currently writing a Fan-fiction on skyrim (had to write something else than my danged series on Vran and Her Highness) I am writing it as a "post civil war" interview with the Dragonborn.. covering the events leading to the end of the Civil war and what is going to unfurl very, very soon, with the Thalmor amassing a huge invasion force and the Response by the Empire, lead by the Dragonborn.. it´s turning out twisty and turny but it´s getting there :-) maybe I´ll post it somewhere on Nexus...

I just want to be able to shut down the horsetrading for cities. Whoever starts it earns my undying hatred. Since if you're uncommited ( and I usually am feeling I should deal with the dragons first) , its always Ulfirc.....

I also would like to see this happen. Another option may be showing the dossier to Tulius right after completing the Thalmor Embassy quest-line. I always disliked the Thalmor on principle (they're tyrants), so when I first saw the dossier on Ulfric, I was hoping it was going to open up a quest line to end the civil war without necessarily taking sides.
