bill8872
I can not get this horseshit game to start up.I was fine the last time I played, which was one week ago. Saturday I updated two mods, messed with one body slide file, and now the game will not even get to the logo. its acting like I have a mod without a master. Start the game, crash at startup.I uninstalled the mods I updated, but did no good. I uninstalled the game, reinstalled it. Still no good.I disabled every mod, except the DLCs, and CC mods. Still nothing.I can find no reason why this is happening.
fr33rang3r
I have had similar issues and have not found a fix yet. Have tried all the googled fixes that seemed applicable and a few that didn't. These included the graphics driver and settings for the game, blocking the game from communicating through the firewall, disabling Steam overlay, etc. Uninstalling mods via MO2 that were installed within the last couple of days did not work either. Not sure if it's related but I had trouble downloading mods from Nexus via MO2. MO2 kept throwing up an error that it was only downloading html files. I have now uninstalled and am currently downloading the game. Edited May 3, 2019 by fr33rang3r
StormWolf01
Have you guys gone into the game install folder, and right clicked on the .exe files and chosen "Run as Administrator"? Sometimes that can make a big difference, depending on what your computer's security settings are set for.Another thing to check, is to see how much RAM your system has, when the game is running or starting up. Start it up, then press CTR + ALT + DEL. The control, alt and delete keys, all at the same time. That will give you the option to start up your task manager which can show you your system resources. My laptop only has 8 gigs of memory, and if I don't have enough RAM available when this game is trying to start up, it will fail to load. One other thing I wanted to mention, is that AWKR (I forget all the abbrieviations!) All weapons keywords mod is defective if you're downloading the most recent version from here. If you have mods that you're gonna install that depend on it, download it from bethesda, directly through the game. That one works fine. The one here has a corrupt file in the FOMOD files, and will NOT extract from the archive. Hope this helps!
DjinnKiller
@bill8872 If I understand Your post correctly You have reset everything, reinstalled the game (no F4SE, no mod managers, launching the game via the default launcher) and are back to basics with no mods? If so, I would hazard a guess and say that your problems are not related to FO4.Did some automatic update for Windows, anti-virus, drivers for Your GFX-card or an other software update running on Your PC run in the week between You starting the game?Did You change some settings either in HW or SW (overclocking, BIOS, or boost software)? And, in case of some esoteric HW-failure, do You have any other games that You play regularly, and that are heavy on graphics (to load the memory on Your GFX card)? The reason why I ask this many stupid questions is that I have a crash problem with all games (see an old post), I know what triggers it, just don't know how to solve it, and it is not a problem in FO4. bill8872
Yes.i did reinstall the game, and tried startling it with the default launcher. No mods active, installed but not acive. Except the DLCs, and CC mods. Not through fo4se. As soon as the logo should start the game crashes. There might have been a windows updated, but not 100% sure on that. There was a gfx-card update, but i know that is not the issue. I downgraded it, and still can't start the game. I have made no setting changes. This is the only game with this problemm. I have it on an SSS, along with SkyrimSE. That game works without issue. I have no other game that is as graphic intensive as this one. I have a 1080 with 8gig v-ram. 24gig system memory. I have checked my event log to see if something shows there. The only errors is the 10016 error. Nothing pointing to this game. I have no idea if it is the couse. DjinnKiller
If the error You refer to, 10016, is the DCOM error (Distributed COM) there is a lot of stuff on the net about that.It causes a lot of nonsense errors including GPU driver crash, BSOD and other fun stuff. Why it suddenly appear and only affects FO4 (if 10016 DCOM is the problem), I have no clue.
bill8872
Yes that is the 10016 error. From what I read it is harmless, and not sure it is the reason for this, or if I need to try and fix it, as I can't find what affect's it really has.Still at a loss. Nothing I have tried so far works.
StormWolf01
Try doing a system reset to before the update from microsoft was installed. It SHOULD have made a system save point prior to it's install. Disconnect from the interenet during the reboot, so that windows can't go back online, and try to reinstall the update. Then try the game again, and see if that does it. If it's the update, we will have to go online and do some searching about how to permanently fix that problem without having to completely disable the windows updates. If you don't know how to do a system reset, let me know which version of windows you are running, Like Win 7, 8, or 10 and I can give you links on how to do it. bill8872
I have 10, but I can no longer go back to that point. I updated everything I could think of. BIOS, chipset, and drivers. Which gave me another update after that. I am going to have to go through the errors one at a time, and hope one is the reason for FO4, (AND only FO4), game not starting. DjinnKiller
Been doing some searching regarding 10016, and it seems you are right. Some claims it causes crashes but mostly it seems to be harmless. Maybe it is time to dig out some system tools to see what really is happening when you try to start FO4. Process Monitor, Process Explorer and TCPView from SysInternals or some of the tools from NirSoft are my go to toolboxes when things get sticky. Windows System Control Center from KLS SOFT lets you download all the tools and start them from one GUI if you don't want to download them one by one. Use at own risk.... Edited May 9, 2019 by DjinnKiller
