mnm2317
The Steam Mods work perfectly. However, I can't seem to get any mod from the Nexus community to work? Is there a workaround, perhaps DL manually and put it into a folder, or some way to fix this? Thanks.
AetharLuran
You could try to use the Nexus Mod Manager. I believe it is the primal method of installing Skyrim mods from the Nexus due to its user friendlyness. Hope this helps you.
mnm2317
I'm sorry, I should have stated I did try the Nexus Mod Manager, but that doesn't work. The files will be "check off" on the 2nd tab, but in the first tab (the 'load order tab') it only lists what I have installed from the Steam community. TonyTitan
On the 'Mod' of Nexus Mod Manger, that will list all your mods that you've downloaded, or added to it from a file. An unchecked box there means that you have not activated the mod yet. So highlight the mod you're installing, then the 2nd button down in the left column, "Activates the selected Mod"....click that and the install process for that mod will commence. You will get a confirmation once the install completes. Then go over to your 'Plug in' tab and look for the .esp or .esm from the mod you just installed. The newest .esp will be at the bottom of the load order, so you may have to move it up if you experience any issues with it....OR you can use BOSS to have it sort things out for you. Though BOSS doesn't always load things up right all the time. .Esm's will be at the top of the list...so if your mod used an .esm file to make it work, it will be closer to the top of the load order. Just make sure your plug ins have the check mark in the box when you start the game.
theblackronin
Hi! So, first, I hope you read what TonyTitan wrote. If you are activating the mods correctly and things still aren't working the following may help. Check to make sure that your mods are being activated to the correct file path. To do this, 1 - Open NMM and click the the settings button. 2 - In settings, go to the Skyrim tab.3 - In the box under "Skyrim Directory" the file path needs to lead the your correct and current location of Skyrim (In my case C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim) If the path was incorrect, try it now. If it was correct, uninstall NMM, then reinstall and update it. See if it works. If it does not, you should put in a ticket in the NMM forums, cause something ain't right. Which leaves us with manual install and activation. The majority of mods on the Nexus (or anywhere else) will have manual install instructions on the mod page or in the readme if the author knows what he/she/it is doing. Usually, it's as simple downloading manually, extracting to the Skyrim /Data folder the files within, activating the mod if necessary, and finally using some relevant tools (BOSS + NMM, or BOSS + Wrye Bash) to reorder your load-order if necessary. This, I suppose, is a bit old-school in a world with NMM... but there you have it. Edited August 19, 2012 by theblackronin
