gothiq
OK ive run some weapon mods and found to my dismay, that where the gunsights point ( and also scope crosshair) is WOEFULLY off from where the regular bullet impact is. even at very close range.now to avoid a list of simple solution Qs from the forum folks.. ( which i totally respect the helpful nature here )i am NOT talking about weapon spreadi am NOT talking about the auto aim falloff range what i mean is if my cross hair is on say the "0" in a stop sign at even close range 25 meters or less lets say. the bullet will ALWAYS impact about 4 inches low. what i want to do is move or modify the gunsight/scope .NIFs in question to align them with where the gun is actually throwing the bullets. an example is the FAL in the Nevada enhancement ovehaul ( its called the euro battle rifle in the mod) it uses a ported over varmint rifle night scopeand at ANY range the scope is aiming a few inches high for any and all shots ( and this slowly gets worse the farther the target is away) if i aim at let say a fragmine at 50 meters the bullet ALWAYS strike about 4 inches below/infront of the mine. i keep repeating myself because a lot of folks are super helpful here, but they dont seem to grasp its a misaligned NIF and not a weapon data setting. (ones ive talked to directly ive not posted this Q in the forum before) so my Q is ..drumroll....... what tool in the geck or third party tool can i use to REalign the scopes and gunsights that are off in various mods i have and or may download in future?im an advanced newbie modder or pehaps even a newbie level veteran so im not lost in the geck, i just cant seem to find the right tool to do what needs to be done IRL id just dial the elevation knob on the scope Up 32 clicks to get on target at 50 meters but with NV its not as easy as all that. :D
DizzasterJuice
First off I don't know anything about scopes so I don't know if what you're trying to do is the correct way. I would guess that it's not the scope but something else.NifSkope would be the tool you want to use. If you open the scope in NifSkope you will see the individual parts under keepScope01. These parts can be moved by right clicking on it and selecting Transform/Edit then moving the X,Y,Z transformations. Right click again after you move them and select Apply. The crosshair is keepAdditive03:0 under keepScope01/MaskRing.

Thanks ! you knew what i wanted :D ( even if it turns out to be the wrong answer for my problem) one more Q, if i move the entire scope down on the model will the crosshair also move?im having the devils own time trying to find the scope only NIF i found the gun nif and the scope model attached to it..i cant seem to find the thing. it has its own name, its not just a re used varmint scope, it merely uses that scopes body and 3d model EDIT NM i tried the above, moved the scope lower on the rifle model all i got was the big red blob of failure when i saved the nif and loaded the game.thankfully i thought to save the original nif aside, so i could just put it back the way it was.dang i need to find the scope only as a model and move the crosshair piece Edited August 19, 2012 by gothiq
DizzasterJuice
When you look through a scope in game you're not actually looking through the model, you're looking through a hud screen with a crosshair so moving the scope model doesn't do anything. There are 8 different vanilla scopes (huds) located in meshes/interface/hud/The only way the mod would be different is if it used it's own scope, otherwise changing any of the 8 original scopes would change any weapon that used that scope. Thanks i just slowly came to that realization LOLok so how do i get the Scope crosshair to point where the bullet ALWAYS goes? in this case the bullets ALWAYS shoot low ( i say always so you understand its not a weapon spread issue or my bad "guns" skill)
