Custom NPC has no greeting.

Following tutorials found here I have made an NPC with the CK. It works as any follower would except for one thing. When I hit E to interact with them they are mute, i.e. they dont say "I've got your back" etc etc. Then when I trade they audibly say "what do you want me to carry?" and so on. I have tried googling this but have not found any thing concrete telling me what I need the closest I have come to is this http://j-u-i-c-e.hubpages.com/hub/Hot-to-Turn-Your-Skyrim-Character-into-a-Follower. I have even used other follower mods as a template to try and figure this out. I am sure I could take one and edit it but I would really like to figure out how to do it myself. Any help would be appreciated.

A couple of things to check:

1. Verify that your selected voice type supports followers. Not every vanilla voice type does so. For example, I don't believe "Female Sultry" voice supports followers, but "Female Even Toned" does.
   
2. Make sure that you have your follower in the appropriate factions; you can model this off just about any vanilla follower.

Thanks for the heads up, I already had it on even toned just to be sure. Like I said they still say "what do you want me to carry" blah blah. But I will give the factions a try. So far I have em at the follower faction and player faction. Ill mess around with that. Thanks!

Guess the problem was that I did not have it on the even toned voice. I found it odd that you cant use the other three follower voices, I have a couple follower mods that use sultry and condescending. Also I'm not sure if changing the crimefaction to Whiterun and removing the player faction out of the list had anything to do with it. Thanks again you solved it, it was really bugging the crap out of me.
