FuzzleWyzzle
Hey all. Like the title says, i'm very new to the modding scene and was hoping to get some help.I've tried to sort through the guides myself, but I just ended up getting confused and frustrated because, I think what I want to do atm is a bit specific. I'm attempting to try and replace a couple vanilla outfits (ex: Kellogg's and Vaultsuit) with custom modded ones, and I have a feeling it's not just a simple matter of renaming the .nif files. The mods also contain .bgsm, textures, and bodyslide files. So i'm hoping someone can help me. Like what programs i need (FO4Edit, Nifscope, ect...) and maybe a down and dirty explanation to set me down the right path. (For all i know it's a simple matter of opening the mod in a program and clicking a button that says "Choose Outfit to Replace" lol. Also a noob question to end it off. I already have a clean backup of FO4, but should I (or is it even possible to) have a 3rd version of FO4 with a 2nd vers. of F4SE for testing mods? Ty for any and all help! I'm hoping this will be the start of my modding journey.Edit: I just realized I may (or may not) have put this in the wrong section of the forums. Apologies in advance. Wolfskin75
Hello, I am more than happy to help. I am on the same journey myself. Sometimes the place even though filled with lots of people help is hard to find. You need Creation kit, Nifscope, Outfit studio and a lot of drive room. You can use something to extract the need files out of the databases and something to help with the materials as well. If you to PM me I will give you the names of the programs I use and a lot of the links to the tutorials I watch to learn things. I can't wait to see the things you make. Zorkaz
You also need material editor for the .bgsm files.Basically what they do is being a linked library for a couple of texture files at once
