imm0dium
Hey all. I'm going to be upgrading my motherboard and will be formatting my SSD which has vortex on it. My Vortex downloads and mods are installed on a separate HDD where Skyrim is installed also. Just wondering if Vortex will recognise the mods I have installed when I reinstall it after the upgrade? Thanks.
AugustaCalidia
Be sure to save AppData/Roaming/Vortex (or its equivalent) to your separate HDD. Once you've upgraded, then move that folder back to its original place. You may find it helpful to read the following article in the Knowledge Base - "Moving Your Vortex Mod Setup to a New Computer." rmm200
Side comments. Ignore if not useful.I assume the SSD Vortex is on is your boot drive. Fine place, given that the Vortex executable is small.Vortex itself shows minimal performance benefit from being on an SSD.Games you don't use very often - a slow HDD is a fine place.Big games that you use a lot, like Skyrim SE modded, benefit a lot from living on an SSD. Game load time, cell changes, and general FPS show real improvement.Vortex downloads do not benefit from being on that SSD. There again, a slow HDD is fine. And this is a big directory.500GB SSDs are down to under $80 now... I get them for reliability as much as speed. Not NVME - but those cost more.
