Slavemaster4u
I posted this issue on the Beth site. But got nowhere there. So posting here.First. Everything is up to date. Game, CK, system, sys drivers. The issue. I launch CK (either directly or Beth net launcher). CK loads fine up to point where u then load data file. Then before I can click file, to choose what to load. Windows pops up a window saying CK has stopped working. Then CK closes. Has been like this since last game\CK update. After last CK update, it did go though extracting scripts, then to place where you choose file to load. And that's where it quits.Troubleshooting steps I've done.1: Made sure all scripts were unpacked.2: Did a scan and repair from Beth launcher.3: Did an uninstall\reinstall.4: Removed all ba2 texture files added by mods and the loose texture folder from data folder.5: Made sure no changes to CK ini. Any changes were made to CK custom.ini.Launched CK after each of these steps. Can't think of anything else to do.The game is fully up to date. And is not a pirated game. Ck also newest.Any help resolving this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Zorkaz
I had the same issueThe solution:It was a .jpg I recently downloaded in my texture files subfolderI deleted it and everything was alright Maybe it's not a texture file but something in the materials, sounds or meshes folder
Slavemaster4u
Going to remove materials, sound, meshes, and interface folders and launch CK. Already did with textures. I'll let you know what results. Thank you
Slavemaster4u
Just removed interface, materials, meshes, and sound folders. Launched CK. Same thing happening. This is frustrating. Was working on a huge mod for past 8 months. Hate to toss it.
Zorkaz
Maybe it's inside the Data folder itself. A "bad" esp perhaps...
Deleted49413338User
have you tried using the Roll back method using Steam Console, Since you say it only started after last CK/game update? Search Google "Roll back Fallout 4 Steam Console" and you should find how to do this. How does CK even update? does that happen everytime the game updates? Or, when you uninstall and Download it again is there any options for previous version to download? Idk what MM you are using or where CK keeps its esp files but probably best to back it up and just paste a copy in another folder somewhere first. Another thing you could try is to uninstal it then uninstal/remove the Bethesda.net launcher. The Go to Users>UserName>AppData>Local and delete the Bethesda.net Launcher found there to just remove any saved user settings or cache stuff etc. (although.. There might be some error logs found here that might be useful, idk just to look at and see if there is a consistently reported error, you could copy paste the log files somewhere else before deleting that folder I guess) Then try reinstall the Launcher and Ck. Slavemaster4u
Oynlen: Thanks for reply. I mean no insult to you but, by the questions you ask, seems you know little to nothing about CK. Otherwise you wouldn't mention about where CK keeps it's esp files. Nor would you mention doing a steam console rollback. CK for F4 is only available through Beth net, therefore steam will have nothing on it, old or new. Also Beth games (including CK) keeps game files, except plugins files and save game data, in the root directory of game, this includes log files. Been modding Beth games all the way back to Morrowind. So not new to using or creating mods. Nor new to CK. As for backups, you're correct, I should have kept a backup of both F4 and CK. And usually do. Just forgot this time. Am now going to be backing up both. Zorkaz: Thanks for reply. Though my game is running fine and Xedit is showing no issues with mods I have installed. I'm now going to test CK against my mods. First with no mods, then test esm's only, then esl's only, then esp's only, of course, including any req. masters. Just to see if any are causing issues with CK. Though past experience is telling me there shouldn't be, sense game is running fine. But weird things happen often with Beth games, so best to test any and all things. Will update the results when done.
Slavemaster4u
Update: Is not related to any mods installed. Just moved the plugins txt file to desktop and created a blank plugins txt. Launched CK. Same thing, fully loads to point where you load a file. And quits. The log for it shows it loaded successfully. But no error showing and no crash log created. So sounding more and more like a CK issue and not a mod issue. Not sure where to go from here with it. Was blindly hoping a Beth dev. would see and reply on the Beth site. But no such luck. Any additional ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
