StayFrosty05
I have just come across the news about this new Hearthfire DLC coming out for the XBox platform....and am feeling the pain for XBox players....Until fairly recently I was one of them, until I switched over to PC....for the mods actually. But I can't help thinking to myself how heart broken I would be feeling right now if I was still on XBox....I would be so much more interested in having a DLC that enables more choices in the vanilla game, more RP opportunities....such as an add on that would allow me to outright refuse Delphine and Esberns genocidal urgings, put the TG out of business for good, deal with the Thalmor, etc...Instead what is handed out is Simsville.... :( ....building houses, growing gardens and adopting kids....since when did Skyrim stop being a Warrior RP game, out there battling Dragons, exploring, etc....and become Sims Mark 2? I am VERY disappointed in Bethesda.... :( ....How do other people see this Hearthfire DLC? I am also thinking Bethesda maybe deliberately chasing the Sims crowd....Sims is a hugely popular game from what I understand. sinnerman69
I used to play the sims 2 and had up to 8 of it's games and add-ons and already seen sign's of Sims 2 in skyrim like the potion bottles and Alchemy Lab and the other table I always forget the name of sorry, I use nether and depend on the rewards and what the corpes and chest and dungeons may hide!... The reason why I stopped playing the sims 2 is because the the good modders joined pay sites like The Sims Resource and other pay site fan sites, they where to greedy and to much infighting amongst the modding fan sites and I found myself only building homes only and never letting sims move into them, the only good thing I seen out of the the sims 2 community was that the ModTheSims2 fan site made a separate adult version of there site for the nude skins and animated prostitution mods!. Thoreai
I dont see the problem having a sims-like addon, the problem like with many things in tes games is the shallowness and lack of depth. All if the ideas sound good on paper but once you see them in game, you quickly realize they just scratch the surface of something that could be far greater and much more fun...all they do is just reusing the already existing models/items from vanilla skyrim and put in some scripts and thats it. It just doesnt feels exciting.
SFBryan18
My 10 year old female cousin loved the sims and loves Skyrim. I think people have a hard time understanding that girls play this game too, and many of them like to play house. Personally, this dlc reminds me of how I decorated my Skingrad house in Oblivion on PS3. I spent hours arranging my armor in that house for no reason at all, and I'm a guy. People like to role play because it's that type of game, and with this come the desire to have a home. I think this dlc is more for xbox/ps3 than PC, because we already have all this stuff. scottmack
I used to be a console player back when I first played FO3. It was mods that made me switch to and personally, I would have loved a DLC like this. I always found places in the vanilla game and dubbed them 'my home' and began decorating with my things. But that's just me, I've always valued customization in my games, characters, armours/outfits, weapons etc. people will be split on what they prefer but that's just it, no decision will satisfy everyone. I think this DLC is great for console users because it gives them a taste of what we can have with our home mods, besides it just seems like a mini dlc type thing anyway. sinnerman69
I just hope I don't have to chase down custom player made wallpapers and furniture and linen, I became obsessed with those fan made mods when I had the sims games :wallbash: o'boy I can see it now, custom made player flags, emblem's and banners for your house or hold  I'm ridiculing myself because I used to spend hours upon hours searching fan sites for new furniture, wallpapers, clothes and cars and animals etc for my sims!.. Loki180
I think it will be good, how often does a game company make a DLC like this. It adds more RP and immersion to the game! My only hope is, We don't have to wait a MONTH till the godfather the PC gets the play! Would Betha do such a thing for such a small DLC? I don't really see why you guys are complaining about it so much! If I know Betha they have something in the works. Think Oblivion. Knights of the Nine along with all its DLC? then came SI. If it was in that order. The DLC looks great its a small novelty for us to play with, don't want the game to go stale now do we? But again please do not let us have to wait a month again, I mean its just a small DLC! Edited August 29, 2012 by Loki180
Lachdonin
With everyone who plays Skyrim/Oblivion/Morrowind that i know, they spend more time playing around with their homes than they do actually vanquishing evil. How is adding something for those people anything but good?
stabbykitteh
I dunno, I played Sims for a while, quickly got bored and never went back. I don't really see this as a Sims add-on so much as a RP add-on. I generally play loner thief type characters but understand that some would like to role play characters that are invested in the places they live, that have families. I don't see the issue there, you'll still be slaughtering bandits/vampires/dragons by the hundreds before you go back to your customized house. I actually think it will be quite popular on all platforms (if they can get their .... together on the PS3, that is).
