Repair Mods: CMRS vs. BA_Repair

Can anyone provide input on these mods:

http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/10647/?tab=3&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fmodimages%2F%3Fuser%3D0%26id%3D10647

http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/11977

I'd like to give CMRS a try, but I need to use:

FallOut Script Extender (FOSE): http://www.silverlock.org

FallOut Mod Manager (FOMM): http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=640

I'd rather not use these until I know more about how CMRS works.

So if any of you guys been using CMRS, please give an extremely detailed description of what it does.

I haven't played FO3 since I started running amok with mods again. *sigh* This is like my Oblivion experience part 2 for me.

PS: Hope someone with CMRS experience replies asap.

BA_Repair has more endorsements. CMRS has more downloads. *sigh* which one do I choose?

Read on if you are interested further:

This is what I know about BA_Repair so far:

1. It is the simpler one between the two mods, since you don't need any fancy 3rd party software.

2. It simply adds/changes items that would otherwise be junk in the game, and makes them more useful for repairs.

3. BA_Repair is super updated, like March 2012. It is compatible all the way to the last DLC.

4. The author of BA_Repair has done research on the real-life equivalent of the in-game junk and has given much logic in the description of the in-game junk items and why these should be able to repair items.

5. But despite #4, in practice, it makes making repairs too easy. Just get enough Tin Cans and you can repair your armor and weapons (or most, at least) as far as your Repair skill will let you.

6. You don't need a combination of items, nor do repairing stuff with different items necessary. For example: You can repair your metallic weapon with Tin Cans all the way. Even if the author made mention of using Wonderglue with Tin Cans to repair weapons, in practice, you don't need to do this.

7. There are no "Repair Bonus (or Repair Penalty whichever the case may be)" if you use a Laser Rifle to repair a Laser Rifle, or you use Tin Cans to repair said Laser Rifle. Both repair items will repair your Laser Rifle based on your repair skill.

8. Having tools like a wrench and/or hammer in your inventory will not give you any repair bonus.

#4-7 is what I hate about BA_Repair.

You should not let needing FOSE or FOMM keep you from getting CMRS. If you continue to add mods to your game, you will need both of them sooner rather than later. There are a lot of the must have mods that require FOSE, and FOMM makes managing your load order and launching the game easier.

The CMRS download page tells you all you need to know. I think both mods are slightly 'cheaty' but are preferable to the vanilla system. Perhaps the following mods by Werne are worth considering:

Weapon Repair Kits For Fallout 3

Armor Repair Kits For Fallout 3

They are akin to the New Vegas approach except can't be crafted. I haven't tried them yet but as long as they are not too common in loot lists and are appropriately priced then they would be a balanced solution.

I've read the CMRS download page. BA_Repair is actually better-described. I hate it when mod-authors take all that time and effort to make mods and make them available for everyone, only to leave out good descriptions. For example, I don't even know what Krysee, the author of CMRS, means when she says "Cross-repair".

I know, but I am wary of FO3 becoming unstable. I do not yet have a case of full-blown CTDs, but I have had 3-4 in-game freezing, and as of last night, 1 CTD.

...I don't even know what Krysee, the author of CMRS, means when she says "Cross-repair".

Example: In vanilla, leather armour is repaired with other leather armour only. With CMRS you can also repair it with Raider armour hence 'cross-repair' - like cross-pollination I guess.

edit.

Other mods you are using ought to be considered. CMRS only supports 19th and 20th Century Weapons, BA_Repair only Apocalyse Armory. Both support all DLC. If you use (say) FWE then neither mod will provide it's functionality to FWE items.

Well, that's easy then, because I am not using any other mods. And from what I have heard, Apocalypse Armory is more...futuristic hence I would prefer that.

Yes, so that is what "Cross-Repair" means across the board then.......disappointing then. *Sigh*. BA_Repair lets me fix my stuff with Tin Cans for goodness sake. At least make it a bit harder and require the player to use a workbench to repair, or recycle said tin cans into scrap metal....ah, nevermind.
