emrik99
So id like to establish a few things as my problem is rather weird from my point of view. The details i would like to clarify 1st and foremost are the following I had already launched and played f04 via f4se .I had logged out to use https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/22205I have used this mod before , more then once, and i never redownloaded it , just reinstalled /installed as neccessaryAfter using it last night ( i had already played for a couple hrs) When I went to enable it , all of a sudden it said that it couldnt access fallout4,baked.ini and vortex was saying antivirus protection detected Before we get any farther , This is not the 1st time Vortex has given me that message , it did it a few builds ago and when i disabled windows defender a cascade of problems appeared. The solution in the long run was just to ignore the message and install and use mods , which i was able to do so without issueThe next build of Vortex that error message no longer appeared Now last night is weird as far as i know Vortex didnt update. After this error message in vortex i tried to launch f04 via f4se and was unable too I got a black screen that said something about error in idebugloop . and just shut itself. i can launch fallout the with the regular game launcher but any mod that needs the script extender is lost to me if i play that way , so not exactly ideal I thought just to check , i tried to launch SkyrimSE via skse , and the same error message occured . I havent changed skyrims mods in months so there was no reason it should not have launched. I do not know if this is a vortex problem , a skse(f4se) problem, a windows problem , a my computer problem . I am looking for any help, ideals , suggestions, and I hope ive explained whats going on . if it helps i also launched eso last night , which i do have on vortex as well and it launched but all my settigns were gone , ie the game acted like i had never played it before, my keybinds , etc were gone and i had to agree to eulas again . My characters in game were fine and i could use them , but a lot of that is stored server side . anyway thank you in advance for even reading this. edited to add a screenshot of what happens when i try to launch f4se

Tannin42
This is not a Vortex problem so you may have more luck finding someone who has dealt with the same problem on a more general board - but I think I know what your problem is:Go to "Windows Security Settings" -> "Virus & Thread Protection" and there click "Manage ransomware protection".You will probably find that "Controlled folder access" is enabled. This is a fairly new feature in Windows and it shouldn't be enabled by default but I can't guarantee that, depending on how you installed/update Windows it didn't get enabled automatically. Anyway, what this feature does is that it denies any application that it doesn't "trust" access to files in shared documents directories. And since Windows doesn't trust any application it doesn't know and since apparently it doesn't know anything or anyone, this breaks a lot of applications. The result is games that can't read their own configuration files (I've encountered this with Battlefield 5 so wouldn't be surprised if it also happens to ESO) and modding tools that can't access configs and data files of the game they are supposed to mod.Vortex is just one victim among many except it actually tries to warn you and help you avoid the problem I assume that's the message you were ignoring. The solution is to either disable ransomware protection (keep backups instead?) or create exceptions for every application you'd like to work. And in general, please don't just ignore the warnings we give out, if you don't understand one, ask. That's far less irritating then you ignoring our warnings and then reporting it as our problem that the exact thing we warned you about actually turned out to be a problem and it's our fault because we warned you about it. I say this because all though the message came up , nothing really changed .. unless i followed that advice and they defender shut me down on a bunch of false positives. also i wasnt trying to blame you guys ", I said I do not know if this is a vortex problem , a skse(f4se) problem, a windows problem , a my computer problem . I am looking for any help, ideals , suggestions, and I hope ive explained whats going on ."because i had no clue, i wasnt trying to place blame anywhere , just trying to say that i was completely in the dark , I apologize if it seemed that I was accusatory with yall
Tannin42
Apologies, I probably overreacted.I felt like you're shooting the messenger here because there's a lot of that going around recently but I accept that I probably misread your post.
