Avematic420
I just wiped my memory on my pc and decided to just run new vegas with mods on it since I dont game that much anymore, and that is the only game I feel that would be great to pick up and play any time. I installed the game and followed this youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpynocVIcCU&t=39s <- this is part 1 of 8 or 9 I believe. I watched them all so I could mod it. I kept downloading the mods the guy did then loading new vegas so the mods properly loaded. It seemed fine until I got to what I thought was the final step where I was downloading clothing mods or added weapons. I started the game and I realised I cant save. Im using MO2 https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/6194 as my mod manager there are no load options if I save or no record of me doing so at all. So basically the only way I could play it is if I kept it on 24/7 Edited June 5, 2019 by Avematic420
dubiousintent
If I am understanding you correctly, you were able to download and install mods and test them in game. Did you save the game at any stage during that process before you got to the point where you couldn't save (anymore)? If so, that suggests you have run out of "free disk space". If you never were able to save at any point, that sounds like you do not have the correct "permissions" where you are saving your "save game files", which should be (by default) in "C:\Users\<YourAccountName>\Documents\My Games\FalloutNV" (which you should have full rights to write to). * Did you install Steam to it's default location? If so, please see the wiki "Installing Games on Windows Vista+" article for why the original default Steam behavior of installing games to the "C:\Program Files" or "C:\Program Files(x86)" folder tree was bad (they learned better, and don't do that any more); and why "disabling UAC and running as Administrator" is NOT sufficient, with instructions how to move it. This is the single most important thing you can do to fix and protect yourself against problems in the future. As much of a PITA as that is, it's never going to be any easier than now. System updates often cause issues with games installed to these folder trees. Please see the 'Restoring to "Vanilla"' section of the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article as well. Disabling "User Account Control" (UAC) only stops Windows from prompting you to grant "administrative" credentials to an application that the system says must have a "UAC elevation". Disabling UAC does not automatically then enable the permission for such applications. Instead, (for all intents and purposes) it automatically denies them. (Please read this MS article on how it works in Win10. The basics have been there since the inception of UAC with Vista.) If you did move Steam out of the default location, then likely any access privilege problem is one of "File and Folder permissions" on the parent "root" folder under which you installed the games. If this is not set correctly to allow at least "System", "Administrators", and "Users" to have "Full Control" then you can't overwrite other files or make changes. You then need to enable the "Properties | Security | Advanced | Change Permissions" setting of the parent folder to enable the box: "Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object", so those changes get applied to the existing files and sub-folders.-Dubious-

I did not save the game when testing the mods until near the end. So I started the game up and didnt start a new game until I the guy in the video did so basically after most of the visual mods and the enb. I had a save file that was still there and it was fresh out of doc mitchells house and I loaded it to see if the enb worked. It did so I left then went back to downloading more mods. I then went to create the new game and tried saving after I left doc mitchells and entered the saloon but I couldnt save and there was no auto save. It doesnt auto save if I walk into a building or anything. I went to my saves folder in C:\Users\myname\Documents\My Games\FalloutNV\Saves and the permissions are all checkmarked. In fact even FalloutNV folder and MyGames folder are checkmarked. In all three profiles too and that means administrative. Im using windows 10 not vista. What would u say the next step would be? dubiousintent
As you were able to create a "save file" once, it is unlikely to be a "permissions" problem. This makes it even more likely to be a "free disk space" issue, which you did not report on. ("Disk space" is not the same thing as "memory".) How much free disk space do you have on your "C:" drive? If it is below 10% of the drive total capacity, you may be having problems as Windows doesn't like that. -Dubious-
