Changing starting race/preset

Anyone know how to change which preset the game defaults to?

 

Modded or otherwise, the game usually starts out as Nord Male Preset 1.

I'd like to change that to WoodElf Female 1!

 

I looked through the console command list over at UESP, and the closest thing I can find is the 'SStartingCell='.

Whether it needs an actual mod/script, or can be done as a bat like SStartingCell=, doesn't make a difference to me.

 

There's gotta be a setting or id for it somewhere, but I haven't been able to find it.

As far as I know the starting race and gender is defined by what is on the base player record (happens to be male nord). As far as which number preset it starts with, that can be affected. I remember adding a female preset to the Redguard race and the order of the presets when cycled was different than prior.

 

All that said, if you edit the base player record and change it to female wood elf it should start off with your desired preset. You do need to make sure that no other mod edits the same record. If any do, you may need to incorporate the change into your plugin.

 

if you need step by step:

• Open Creation Kit
• Load Skyrim.esm and Update.esm
• Navigate to the Player actor record (not sure of exact name)
• Change race to Wood Elf
• Change gender to Female
• Make any other adjustments necessary.
• Save the plugin

AHA! It's literally called "Player", and I never thought to just look for an Actor lol
