cbrown119
Hello, I just purchased this game on STEAM and saw some mods files that I would like to try (different Texture files). When I read the instructions it says to place the files in "Items" and/or "DATA" files. I cannot find that file anywhere in the installation directory. Would it be the CookedPC file? If so, those files do not exist. I have read a few of the posts here and I get the impression that I just copy the files to CookedPC?!? It cannot be that simple.....could it? Do I have to unpack that large pack0.dzip file? if so, I would not know the first thing about doing that, so I could use some help. Any help would be appreciated. I am used to using the Nexus Mod manager for Skyrim, so I apologize if these answers to my questions seem too obvious. Thanks.
dragonbird
Yes, it is that simple. Mods go into the CookedPC folder, which is within the program files folder structure. The CookedPC folder already exists, the subfolders within it probably don't. You do NOT unpack pack0.dzip, or any mod supplied in dzip format. Okay, well then, how do I adjust the values in the Abilities file/sub folder if it does not exist? (this is for a Regen mod by Kevinnium) I know I can create new folders to install like the Items... Am using Notepad++ to view the folder structures. Hope you can help. Thanks,Bill

I'll just throw'em in there and let CookedPC sort em out! Thank you for the response. Once I get a little further into the vanilla, I will try some mods---so I can appreciate the work the community has done.

Thanks,Bill Well, it took me a while to find the mod you were talking about. I assume it's this one? http://witcher.nexusmods.com/mods/61 Mods work fine with the Steam version, so I'm not sure why you're not finding the file you want to edit. The installation method is the same as with non-Steam, i.e. you download the mod, and put it into CookedPC. If it's supplied in a compressed format such as 7z, zip or rar you need to unzip it first, if it's supplied in dzip, you just throw it in there. The only difference is that "CookedPC" is in a different place, within the Steamapps folder strructure in your program directory. Be warned though - that mod is listed as being for game version 2.0. I have absolutely no idea if it'll cause any problems if you use it with EE. There do seem to have been quite a few comments since EE came out, so it's presumably OK, but you may want to check with the modder concerned. Read this topic as a starter to Mod My STEAM Install of TW2:AoK. Just wanted to know if there were any quick links to Mod tutorials that you might have handy. I had a quick skim, but couldnt find anything relevant. Do most mods come with documentation?? Lastly, I think I remember reading something about a MOD Manager, I think it was called 'REDIT' or something, which is what prompted me to register at this site. Any info will be appreciated! Cheers - And enjoy the GReat HUnt!
dragonbird
The mods should come with installation info. There's no mod manager for the game. The toolkit hasn't been released yet.
