yoto205
After installing fallout 3 goty it would not start, saying xlive.dll was needed. After two days i fixed that and got the main menu to start. So i started a new game. it loaded for about 5 seconds then crashed, saying its not responding and the only option i had was to close the window. If any of you have any ideas on how to fix this please tell me, thanks for the assist.
M48A5
Try here: http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1348070-windows7-quad-core-fixes/Also, a little more information would help. ie: equipment specs, location of the install and load order. GrindedStone
Download the official 1.7 patch an run that. Try it again. If it's still doing it, un-install the game, clean the registry, do something else for a few days, then install it again.

GrindedStone
They already fixed that, try reading the whole topic before you reply. Windows 7 themes will cause crashing upon start up, that could carry over into the main menu on some systems. Use personalize, an a windows basic profile. You can also try the Falllout3.exe properties compatibility tab. Run as Admin, in comp for Windows XP SP3, an disable themes. yoto205
After changing the fallout 3 INI it loaded for 3 seconds longer then normal then crashed again. any ideas why?
M48A5
Did you change the correct .ini? The one in the My Games folder, not the one in the Steam\Fallout3 folder? I suggest that before you go too much further that you take some time and filimiarize yourself with the basic operation of your computer and where to find basic information.
