gdude
Are there any snowboarders or skiers on the forums? What's your favorite place to go? I skied until about 3 or 4 years ago, then I switched to snowboarding. My favorite place to go is Big Sky, Montana.
thanateros
I've only been skiing, and because I'm rather good at it I'm reluctant to switch to snowboards. I've only been skiing in the Eastern US (nothing compared to the Rockies I hear) but my favorite place to ski is Kellington in Vermont. They have a nice 3 mile intermediate course which is a pleasant break from blaxing down the black diamonds.

Osiris
I picked up snowboarding last winter while in Beaver Creek, Colorado. Either that or Arrowhead, CO would have to be my favorite. Oh, yes, I've hit a few trees here and there but nothing too serious. Hehe, a friend I was boarding with (actually he was skiing i was boarding) had to get airlifted off the mountain because to rammed his ass (no really, his ass  ) into a tree going rather fast. Now he wears a helmet and a home-made ass-guard
gdude
When I was at Big Sky this year I went WAY too fast onto a rail and I fell right on my tailbone, on the rail. :( Ouch. It was my first day there too. Luckily I didn't break my tailbone, so I still enjoyed the rest of my trip. I don't like terrain parks and doing tricks as much as just going down some challenging terrain. I plan to hit the back side of the mountain when I go to Big Sky next time. All the way down to the bottom, it's 6 miles. :)

The element of reduced friction because of the fact that a ski has less surface area touching the ground makes for some rocking 60 mph good times my friend. And hockey stopping is glorious because of the tidal wave of snow you whip up on ususpecting six-year-olds (I'm not really that evil, it was an accident; the bad karma caught up with me when I fell of a ski lift from about 15 ft off the ground). If you're a speed fiend then I would suggest skis.
