SunWolf
everytime I load, not just at start up but any and every time I load, the settings change. I will make changes before I load in the opening screen and then I load and the settings change again. Its really frustrating having to constantly change the settings. Is there a way to change them in the Oblivion.ini file? Thanks a bunch!
Ethre
The ingame graphics settings are listed in the RenderInfo.txt That file should look something like this:Renderer Device Information: NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT nvd3dum.dll RenderPath : BSSM_SV_2_A PSversion : 300 VSversion : 300 VStarget : vs_2_0 PStarget : ps_2_a PS2xtarget : ps_2_a maxPS20inst : 512 3.0 Shaders : yes Image space effects : yes Nonpowerof2textures : yes FP16ARGB blending : yes FP16ARGB filtering : yes High dynamic range : no Bloom lighting : no Refraction : yes 2.0 hair : yes SLI mode : no Water shader : yes Water reflections : yes Water displacement : yes Water high res : no Multisample Type : 0 Shader Package : 4 (With my specs replaced by yours of course). Adjusting these settings should control the some of the options accessible via the video options menu ingame. In your Oblivion.ini file, there is a video section:[Display]uVideoDeviceIdentifierPart1=3619102270uVideoDeviceIdentifierPart2=298796871uVideoDeviceIdentifierPart3=572878389uVideoDeviceIdentifierPart4=902480385fDecalLifetime=10.0000bEquippedTorchesCastShadows=0bReportBadTangentSpace=0bStaticMenuBackground=1bForcePow2Textures=0bForce1XShaders=0bHighQuality20Lighting=0bAllow20HairShader=1bAllowScreenShot=1iMultiSample=0bDoTallGrassEffect=1bForceMultiPass=1bDoTexturePass=1bDoSpecularPass=1bDoDiffusePass=1bDoAmbientPass=1bDoCanopyShadowPass=1bDrawShadows=0bUseRefractionShader=1bUse Shaders=1iNPatchNOrder=0iNPatchPOrder=0iNPatches=0iLocation Y=0iLocation X=0bFull Screen=1iSize W=1440iSize H=900iAdapter=0iScreenShotIndex=16SScreenShotBaseName=ScreenShotiAutoViewMinDistance=2000iAutoViewHiFrameRate=40iAutoViewLowFrameRate=20bAutoViewDistance=0fDefaultFOV=75.0000fNearDistance=10.0000fFarDistance=10000.0000iDebugTextLeftRightOffset=10iDebugTextTopBottomOffset=10bShowMenuTextureUse=1iDebugText=2bLocalMapShader=1bDoImageSpaceEffects=1fShadowLOD2=400.0000fShadowLOD1=200.0000fLightLOD2=1500.0000fLightLOD1=1000.0000fSpecularLOD2=550.0000fSpecularLOD1=250.0000fEnvMapLOD2=800.0000fEnvMapLOD1=500.0000fEyeEnvMapLOD2=190.0000fEyeEnvMapLOD1=130.0000iPresentInterval=1iShadowFilter=1iActorShadowCountExt=1iActorShadowCountInt=2bActorSelfShadowing=0bShadowsOnGrass=0bDynamicWindowReflections=0iTexMipMapSkip=1fGrassStartFadeDistance=0.0fGrassEndDistance=0.0bDecalsOnSkinnedGeometry=0bFullBrightLighting=0iMaxLandscapeTextures=0bLODPopActors=0bLODPopItems=0bLODPopObjects=0fSpecualrStartMax=1000.0000fSpecularStartMin=0.0000iActorShadowIntMax=10iActorShadowIntMin=0iActorShadowExtMax=10iActorShadowExtMin=0fGammaMax=0.6000fGammaMin=1.4000iMaxDecalsPerFrame=10bLandscapeBlend=1fShadowFadeTime=1.0000fGamma=0.8800bAllowPartialPrecision=1iShadowMapResolution=1024bAllow30Shaders=0iTexMipMapMinimum=0bDoStaticAndArchShadows=0bDoActorShadows=0bIgnoreResolutionCheck=0fNoLODFarDistancePct=1.0000fNoLODFarDistanceMax=10240.0000fNoLODFarDistanceMin=1700.0000 This allows more detailed control of some settings. I don't know very much about it, but you will be able to set your screen resolution ("isize W" and "isize H").
Deleted269910User
Or you could change the settings in the game, then when you're done, open up console window(tilde key) and type "saveini" without the quotes. If it doesn't work, something is most likely resetting your oblivion.ini.
Halororor
Are your saves or obl.ini set to read only. A mistake I very often make myself.
